X Marks the Spot is pretty underwhelming at level 1, only useful for first blood on bounty rune attempts. Tusk can easily gank midlane or destroy his lane with just 2 levels, Kunkka needs to get in 400 range to cast his combo. So I wouldn't call him the new Tusk, though he may become a very good double offlaner, but rather passive till level 3 or even 5.

Isn't he supposed to go lvl 1 Torrent and use it as a follow-up stun tho? It's good damage, high cast range, and literally no cooldown.
And be 1/0/2 at level 3.

Unless you are doing something cheeky on an ally to try and snatch the rune, then yeah Torrent is better. Basically Lv1 Kunnka would rotate like an Lina, or Lesh would, with a set-up support.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.
