Tier 1 - Learn basic Positioning and when to jump in during Teamfights and who to Focus, Farm is unimportant
, ,
Tier 2 - Learn how to Lane as well as Initiate and Counter-Initiate, Farm is still not important, but you should start making sure your Last Hitting Skills are up to scratch where possible (P.S. all 3 heroes can be played as Solo Offlaners)
, ,
Tier 3 - Learn how to Flash Farm and control a Lane 1 vs 1, as well as focusing on Ganking effectively while maintaining a good level of Farm (you should be in the top 3 for GPM most games)(P.S. these Heroes should be played as Solo Mids, although Kunkka is a great Romaer...LC is a ****py Jungler)
, ,
Tier 4 - Learn how to Gank and Teamfight with minimal Farm, improve your Initiation + Counter-Initiation Skills and get some practice with Skillshots
, ,
Tier 5 - Learn how to Split-Push and find Farm even when under pressure while still participating in Teamfights, by this point, you should start visualising how the game is going to progress right from the beginning
I'd also add - learn to play heroes who are dependent on "relative" positioning, i.e. who need to within range to help allies at vital moments, but also need to be safe enough to survive themselves:
Also, heroes who need to position effectively in team fights:
i thought i would help out but Xyrus did most of the work so ill just "narrow it down a bit for you :) ill pick one hero out of each tier that you should really focus on.
^ this guy is the one you should learn. melee range support hero with great support and gank skills. if you can effectively use this hero you are doing great.
^ this guy... positioning is KEY, you have to be conscious of abilities used and also you have to have GREAT timing.play tide well ez game kappa we gucci boys we gucci
^ This guy, prediction timing and flash farming (hitting creeps in such a way that when you tidebringer it finishes the whole creep wave off, also this guys really forces you to think about lane equilibrium. plus if you dont get X at 4 i will be annoyed! hahaha. learn this guy.
^ this guy.... so much can be learned from playing this guy well.
^ this guy. he forces you to really really REALLY FOCUS on your farm speed and positioning as well as your push progress and item progress. because if you are not farming faster then the enemy your going to have a bad time .... get good on this guy and your sweet.
^ ^ these guys .... easy to learn ... hard to master. Magnus in particular. NOTHING is worse then fluffing a Rp on nothing.
I feel like I play Medusa the way you describe Xyrus, but I can't seem to get there with Luna. Any differences/similarities/suggestions?
And Xyrus, that is a beautiful list.
Not sure which part you're having trouble with, so I'll just assume everything is wrong with the way you play Luna. 8{3
Differences compared to Medusa? You may not want to let the game go Late depending on the other Team's lineup, as there are plenty of Heroes that can make your life miserable in the Late Game, e.g. Medusa 8{3 , Spectre, Tinker, Tiny, etc. However, you can be much more aggressive much earlier than a Medusa, it's far from impossible to Deathball with Luna.
Similarities with Medusa? They lack presence in Teamfights unless they have their Ults up, or enough Farm to Right-Click everything in their path down. They're both quite good at Split-Pushing once they have Manta Style + Boots of Travel, but by the time you have your 4th Major Item (e.g. Satanic after Eye of Skadi<- Manta Style<- Black King Bar) you REALLY want to start looking at ending the game.
As for visualising the game...it's hard to give advice on this since it mostly comes from experience. You want to look at your Lineup, the otherTeam's lineup and set a mental milestones for when you thnk major events are going to happen in the game, such as "Which Team starts 5-manning first, and when?"
The biggest way to know when you're getting better at playing Luna is when YOU decide when Teamfights happen.
Simply keep Pushing the Lanes out, and rather than TPing in for a Teamfight you can't 100% win, keep Pushing and trade a Tower, all the rest of your Team has to do is slow down the Push as in most games, an equal trade of Towers in those circumstances is not an equal trade in the bigger picture (I get a ton of Farm and space, putting me further ahead as a result...they just gain the space and a bit of divided farm)
Also some tips about my personal playstyle
Use Lucent Beam to Last Hit under the other Team's Tower at early levels as it can be too dangerous to get close without Eclipse
...speaking of Eclipse, between lvl6 and 10, use it to secure Kills 1 vs 1, or perhaps 1 vs 2, do this by Pressuring a Tower to force tehm to defend it, if only one person stays in the Lane...you just found your next meal, especially if it's a Timbersaw, just bait a Timberchain out of Position past your Creep Wave, Eclipse and save Lucent Beam for teh next Timberchain. Soooo many fail Timbers have fallen for that one <}3
Helm of the Dominator is overrated. It's not a bad Item, but I have some personal issues with it on Luna (aside from upgrading to Satanic). First of all, if the ither Team have any brains or early-mid game presence, expect them to Farm your Ancients constantly to prevent you from getting ahead that way, secondly, it slows down your Yasha which slows down your Manta Style which slows down your Split-Pushing early on. If you want extra Farm and levels to be able to fight early, I'd much rather get a Hand of Midas for a faster lvl11, Hand of Midas->Drum of Endurace-> Black King Bar is a good "fighting" Luna build, where you'#re more concerned about winning Teamfights than Ratting.
Daedalus sucks...pls don't buy it...Critting n00bs is nice, but this doesn't help you Split-Push that much, it doesn't increase your Teamfighting presence if the other Team has any real Control in fights and Crits do not work on Towers! T-T
Finally, there's my latest, greatest Luna game, which I may actually put on Youtube and in a guide...until I have a game where I don't suck early on ._.
11:05->Treads + Aquila + Drum...not so good in terms of Farm Speed...okay, pretty terrible tbh ._.
17:50-> Yasha...still pretty bad
21:13-> Manta Style...now we're talking! 8{D
27:13-> Black King Bar...a little slow, but not too shabby considering how badly I started
31:17-> Aegis of the Immortal
31:43->Courier was bringing me mah Eye of Skadi...yes that's right!...4 AND A HALF MINUTES to Farm an Eye of Skadi 8{D
I'd already decided that we'd won the game at 29:13 though, I just wanted to Farm my Skadi before finishing 8{3
Also, a lot of credit goes to ElDiablo that game, he setup quite a few tasty Kills for me <}3
No credit goes to Bunkan's "Roaming" Mirana though 8{3
I'd also add - learn to play heroes who are dependent on "relative" positioning, i.e. who need to within range to help allies at vital moments, but also need to be safe enough to survive themselves:
Yeah, this would either be 6d or 7b. The only reason I didn't add heroes like this is because they're heavily dependent on your Team following through. Aside from Shadow Demon, they're all weak at Ganking, and won't have much impact when the guy you're babysitting has no clue about Positioning or Farming.
Also, heroes who need to position effectively in team fights:
Already had Earthshaker and Faceless Void/ Tidehunter come under this category as well. Sand King and Jakiro are a little bit different since they're more on the follow-up to an Initiation/Counter-Initiation side though. Plus I was trying to limit it to one "Role" per lesson, i.e.:-
