Riki the Assassin

Introduction

Hello, my name is Xshadow101 and this is my first guide. Riki is one of my favorite hero and in my opinion he is one of the best hero. If you play him right the opponent might even rage quite!

Pros / Cons

Pros:
+Great Ganker/Carry
+Nice slow and disable
+Can scout
+Able Escape
+Great farmer
+Awesome at stealing Aegis of the Immortal

Cons:
-Easily kill at the beginning
-You f*** if the enemy has Sentry Ward, Dust of Appearance, and Gem of True Sight.
-Low health/armor

Items

Starting Items:

Tango: Heal you even when you attack or get attack (must be use on a tree).
Healing Salve: For healing when your heal is really low.
Slippers of Agility: Give you a small boost in agility.
Iron Branch: Give you a really small boost in all attribute.

Early Game:

Poor Man's Shield: Give you damage block and some agility.
Power Treads: Give you movement speed and you can switch attribute.
Vladmir's Offering: Best lifesteal.
Diffusal Blade: Work great with backstab and all the stuff it has is really useful. Get it as fast as you can if the enemy has counter-invis skill.

Mid/Late Game:

Sange and Yasha: Give you bonus stats and Greater Maim is good for slowing the enemy's movement and attack speed.
Butterfly: Perfect with smoke screen and it give u extra damage from your backstab.
Ethereal Blade: Give you really good agility and the Ether Blast is useful.
Monkey King Bar: Give you good damage and some attack speed. Both passive is real useful.
Abyssal Blade: Really good damage.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS, EXTENSION:

Gem of True Sight: Useful for when there is other invis hero like bounty hunter or if the opponent has items like Shadow Blade. Other than that is pretty useless.
Divine Rapier: This item is not necessary but you can buy it if you want.
Boots of Travel: Give you the ability to teleport to you allies and it is the best boot for movement speed.

Optional:

Animal Courier: You can buy it if you want but you don't have to because one of you teammate will most likely buy it at the start of the game.
Flying Courier: You can buy it if you want but you don't have to because one of you teammate will most likely buy it.
Aegis of the Immortal: This item is really useful because it revive you when you die
Cheese: This item heal you and teammates near you. Great for team fight.
Observer Ward: Give sight of surrounding area.
Town Portal Scroll: Give you the ability to teleport to building. You don't need it if you have Boots of Travel.

Skills

SMOKE SCREEN

Throws down a smoke bomb, silencing and slowing enemy units in an area while causing them to miss on most attacks. Lasts 6 seconds.
Range: 425
Radius: 250/275/300/325
Duration: 6
Miss Chance: 40%/50%/60%/70%
Attack and Movement Speed Slow: 25%
Cooldown: 13
Mana Cost: 75/80/85/90

Get this at level 2 because I think backstab is more important. Also the only thing that increase when you upgrade it is radius and miss chance.

Notes:

  • Does not silence castable items.

BLINK STRIKE

Teleports behind the target unit, striking for bonus damage if it is an enemy.
Range: 750
Bonus Damage: 30/60/90/120
Cooldown: 20/15/10/5
Mana Cost: 50

Max this second because backstab is more important.

Notes:
  • Bonus damage is dealt before Rikimaru's regular attack.
  • Teleports to the back of the target, forcing a backstab on the next attack.
  • If the target is an ally, no damage will be dealt.

BACKSTAB

If Riki attacks from behind, bonus damage is applied based on his current agility.
Damage Bonus: 0.5/0.75/1.0/1.25 * Agility

Max this first because it is the second most important skill in my opinion.

Notes:
  • Even if the animation is shown for Rikimaru's images the effect will not work.
  • Bonus damage from Backstab can't be evaded.

PERMANENT INVISIBILITY

PERMANENT INVISIBILITY

Riki fades into the shadows, staying permanently invisible except while attacking or using abilities. While silenced, Riki will be visible.
Fade Time: 3/2.25/1.5

Always get this when it is available. This skill is awesome for ganking and scouting.

Notes:
  • Being silenced prevents this skill from working.

Other Stuff

  • Put your Observer Ward near rosh in case the opponent team rosh. If they do rosh try to steal their Aegis of the Immortal and Cheese if it is there.
  • Never follow the opponent when they past the defensive tower because you will most likely get gank.
  • Don't jungle because Riki is not a jungling hero.
  • When you are level 1-5 just go for last hit on creeps and don't try to solo other hero if you don't have good items because you will die.
  • Get rune
  • Try to scout
  • Watch out for Sentry Ward, Dust of Appearance, Gem of True Sight, and Heroes with skills to see invis. But if you have Diffusal Blade then who care.
  • Scout and gank when you are level 6.
  • Great at carrying gem because the enemy can't see Riki.
