So with the recent promotion of Bunkansee, I began thinking about Vets and what they do (and how I can persuade Hades to make me one).

As far as I know, Vets and Editors do the exact same thing, updated databases and stuff, as well as have access to the Editor's corner.

So what sets Vets apart from Editors?

Well, I have no idea about this, being that I only recently began to pay attention to the subject (because it came to me :D), but I imagine you have to be around for quite a bit in order to be considered a Veteran. Also, if you've been around for ever but you're not helpful in any manner to the community, the promotion doesn't make sense. So it makes sense that you have to been around for a while, helping people and in general being a nice person.

Most of the importance of being one thing or the other is symbolic I think, so that you feel proud to belong to Dota Fire and continue to want to improve it. Apart from that, the only real differences are probably between those people that are random and therefore cannot alter the database, those that can but are not administrators and the administrators.

As you said, Veterans are pretty much the same as Editors. The single difference is that it shows you've been around for a long time and that you've contributed to our community.

Also, you gain access to the Veteran's forum.

We don't discuss too much there, but when we do it's usually about new veterans and additions to the website.
