TB can always free farm unless they directly commit to making your life hell by picking anti-tb heroes.
Like:
Skywrath Mage.
Shadow Shaman
Death Prophet
Ember Spirit
Earth Spirit
Storm Spirit.
Kunkka in some cases
Doom
Anti-Mage in some cases

In absence of these heroes or if they dont target you, then go for Yasha in under 10 minutes. This can happen by taking your tower in that time frame or by acheiving 70 last hits in 10 minutes.
Terathiel has laid down some good timings for items under the farmer/pusher/rat build TB.

Now there is a distress build where those idiots like sk and tinker bring on the pain.
Worse in 5 man fights, magnus seems to Reverse Polarity you almost always.

In these cases, Blink Dagger is good for escape/initiate. Although it is not a substitue for proper positioning as a carry

When having difficulty in laning stage, dont lose hope. Then clear your mind and farm 3 wrath bands.
After that go jungle to farm manta, helm of dominator and drums. Use dominator to stack ancients for later stage where you can get a prospective Butterfly or BKB.

Now for item choices
Ideally you should have one Boots of Travel, Manta, Skadi, Butterfly, Satanic, Daedalus/MKB/ Scythe of Vyse
Sometimes you can have this sixth slot for aegis, E-Blade, 2nd Butterfly or skadi.

Now you see there is no BKB.
Unless they pack some good stuns (ergo, 2 stuns for 2 seconds or more) dont get a bkb, JUST TANK TEH *** UP. Magic damage, aint nobody got got time to deal with that ****. Open manta and Satanic watch those noobs call gg.

So if you have that idiot Tinker/skywrath/ Storm Spirit whatev who may build sheep, eblade dagon, rethink your pick. If you are confident with your teams' draft get a bkb LATE GAME. Because you want to push mid game.

Now for distress build:
My suggestion is that you should have not picked TB if you were not sure that you would be able to farm(THAT SOLO LANE V/S Axe AND Ogre Magi)

In other cases, you need to get early game items: Drum of endurance, ring of aquila, power treads and farm your Yasha.
In case your team is being pwned mid game or after lane is over, you need to go into this build if you have some idea that you wont be able to farm because of enemy pressure. You become a reverse Naga Siren. Somewhat like sending illusions into lane to push rather than farming. Remember to completely push lane into the tower so it comes back quickly and you farm that rebound also once you are done with another lane. SO you rely on lane equilibrium in these kind of match-ups. Bear in mind that unless the lane is uncontested and no one comes to defend and that you are confident that you can damage the tower to 30% of its health or 30% of health in general, do not use metamorphosis. That **** is reserved for team fights.

In fights, ask your teams pardon for all those ks you can manage.Your aim: manta & satanic after your bkb. In this case bkb is bought in mid game regardless of stuns. Since you are squishy and dont have that 3k and about 10k ehp you want to avoid nukes as well. Convert each bkb charge into a tower kill or carry kill. PUT ENHANCED PRESSURE ON ROSHAN FIGHTS, CONTEST EACH TIME AND TAKE AEGIS EVERY TIME POSSIBLE UNTIL PAST 50 min mark.

If the game progressed that much you need to transition into that free farm carry. Odds are you will meet a prepared opposing carry so use bkb wisely and have Sunder/ Satanic ready to be used in conjunction with bkb.
Skill build:
Take Reflection if you want to be really safe. In this case g to the rune spot with a support cast the skill on any contender so he is occupied with that thing and you take the rune away. RUN instantly and dont fight with backup.

If your lane promises first blood, take Metamorphosis / Reflection. In case of Metamorphosis, get boots first.

General skill progression is like to max your E and W.
By level 10 you have to max both of them keeping one in sunder and one in stats or reflection.

Post this stage it is your choice on whether to skill Sunder or not. The skill is now static at 20% barring the mana decrease. So choose wisely after factoring in your mana requirement, CM aura, Aquila aura, any mana batteries in your team, mana burners in other team.

Reflection is also pretty much situational, you can leave it till level 22. You will know when to do it, it comes with experience. For your case, atleast take 1 point in between lvl 1-6.
Go On, Feed Me.

I don't know, disassemble it into Manta Style + Heaven's Halberd? Kind of equivalent to the Vanguard/Manta build in some way...lots of HP, evasion, a disable on hit...

Maybe the prob is on his gameplay style and not his item builds?

IMO

Sange and Yasha is not that bad on Terrorblade in general. Of course you get much more damage and a nice purge/disjoint active but in games focused on the early midgame you can consider it. Its cheaper HP and you can chase enemies as hell with it through the higher MS bonus specially if you go Drum of Endurance first.
You can go Travels but my playstyle is midgame oriented : Drums and Power Treads before minute 10 ( siege and kill that t1 as fast as possible after reaching some levels) into [[Yasha}}.
From now on you can farm jungle/lane and get into skirmishes when your Metamorphosis is ready to kill some them for easy t1 and t2. The items can be Black King Bar although you dont want it really that fast, Manta Stylerush or Eye of Skadi. But you want the other item as next as well.
So you snowball fast and due the nature of TB he is also a good high-ground sieger.
This works perfectly for me but most games were in times of unbalanced Reflection

S&Y is often not awefull, its just that pretty much EVERY TIME there is a better item.
in this case manta absolutely crushes S&Y. so there isnt a single reason to get it.
you shouldn't be fighting that early anyway.

So the answer is quite simple, others said it as well: you don't build Sange and Yasha on Terrorblade. There is always a 100% better item than it, in this case, Manta Style.

While the first game was a fair chance (you kind of had a decent line-up against theirs, - still would advise not to get Helm of the Dominator, you can just farm with an illusion tanking for you in the jungle if you really want to).

The second game however... Terrorblade seems so lackluster against that line-up. Medusa deals well with your illusions, and Phantom Lancer would just swarm you in. Your team should have won though because outworld devourer should be all end all against their team. Didn't go for Aghanim's Scepter against a Medusa. Wasted potential.

To sum it all up: Make sure you pick Terrorblade when he fits into the team composition, be careful with heroes that can just outright counter you.
