How about intead of shifting all essence into agi, he shifts all corresponding to the stolen stats. 1 str 1 agi 1 int or
1 str 2 agi
That seems a bit too heavy on the hero, since you don't want/need Strenght and specially Inteligence. You need to steal something that converts into more damage - and I liked Hamster's idea because you can make it so that he doesn't get armor from it, only damage and AS. Keeping the values (1 hit to steal 3 damage+AS), you get a small nerf that can be impactful without trashing the hero. Idk, it's the only idea so far I liked, because big nerfs are unneeded I think.
Make Essence Shift steal 1 damage and 1 attack speed instead of 1 agility.
It shouldn't affect armor. Because there's no way you can kill that 55 armor Slark except with magic nukes like Necro ult.
I don't understand why you have to propose a nerf to a hero that's totally fine as he is right now. How do I know that? Everyone buys Echo Sabre on him when it's not needed at all. Waste of gold. That's why he's fine as it is. As long as people don't realise Echo Sabre is terrible on him, then I am cool. Plus, armor gets worse the more you have. It's like buying armor boosting stuff on Dragon Knight.
Echo Sabre is just an amazing item in some games, since you like the stats, you like the damage, you like the mana regen, you like to double attack people cause you know, it's your thing xD and it's not even that expensive. So where on Earth did you got the idea that the item is bad on Slark?
It's a different thing to say it's unneded. You might say Ring of Aquila in unneded, Blink Dagger is unneded, etc., but they are all very viable items which you pick up depending on your style or the game circumstances. You don't need it to play Slark, but you do like to have it sometimes.
More importantly: I do agree the hero is fine, but how does Echo Sabre being bad in your opinion makes that true? I don't see the relationship between both ideas, Wolfy.
Once this bastard is beyond 4k, say good bye to your game.
4k what? I'm doing just fine against Slark in 4k mmr if that is what you mean, and if you mean HP, no Slark gets that much HP ever. They barely touch 3k with an Eye of Skadi.

First off, Slark isn't good in this patch because Echo Sabre, but because Silver Edge and Sange and Yasha. At least that's how I play him. You just run people down with two easy buildup HP/attack speed items and they can't do anything about it. Essentially the new Slark has a free Eye of Skadi's worth of slow and stats without having to buy one.
Also Bloodthorn allows him to deal much better with his traditional counters.
Echo Sabre is a decent item on Slark because it gives INT and mana regen. It's not as much DPS/gold as a Hyperstone based item but it gives really good sustain (which also gives you faster farm and split push). I don't buy it personally but I see the logic behind it.
I agree that Echo Sabre is good primary because of the INT and mana regen: once you get your hands on that you can flash farm the jungle with Dark Pact and almost never have to go back to base: the additional stacks of Essence Shift and the 100% move/attack speed slow from the item are just icing on the cake: and it makes you slightly tankier to boot!
It falls off in the long run, true, but I think the farm speed you get out of it makes it a worthwhile pick up, and it does provide some nice additional pick-off potential to a hero that loves his gank money.
