Hi guys I'm new

Hi everyone in this forum, I'm new to dota2 and would like to know some basics. Although im new to Dota2, but I played other MOBAs like LOL,Vainglory(iOS). I would like to know which hero should I pick if I wanna carry(no support for me,PLEASE), so far I got recommendations like wraith king(skeleton king) Phantom Assassin and Riki, but I'm still not sure which hero should I pick. I'm also not sure how the courier works, and when's the time to attack towers. That's all for now. THANKS

This guy may be our Mod and he's a good one at that (and a good person) but he is a LoL player...he still plays dota but you get the idea..right?
I would suggest Juggernaut he is tons of fun and is pretty easy to understand.
Bloodseeker would be another possibility as he is easy to play as well.

Try Sven or drow ranger. They are fun carries too. If you want a core reliant on nuking, try lina.

Question: Do you want a core or a carry?

Because you can be a core without being a carry, like Lina who was mentioned above.

I'd recommend Phantom Assassin as a carry. She really only has three abilities/items to use for most of the game (2 abilities and one item: Black King Bar which she desperately needs, get it on her almost every game). She kills people like nobody's business and is relatively forgiving in the laning stage because of her good stats and Blur.

The courier works like this:

1. You buy an item from your home base while somewhere else on the map
2. You press "Courier Deliver Items"
3. If the courier is not currently in use, the courier will walk/fly to you and give you your item
4. You may control the courier like how you can control your hero
5. The courier can be killed by the enemy team
6. The courier has a speed boost which helps it avoid getting killed
7. If the courier dies, it will respawn in 3 minutes

A word of warning : if you are new to dota and you want to play carry, you need to realize that people in your bracket will pick WAY too many carries already. A typical team needs one or two carries at most. People in your team are going to have 4 or even 5 carries...which is stupid because every carry needs a LOT of items to do anything and they just won't get the gold, making them dead weight.

That's why instead of picking yet another carry it's probably best to pick heroes that need less farm. Look up nukers, gankers and/or initiators. Zeus, Necrophos, Omniknight, Tidehunter, Spirit Breaker, Warlock, Night Stalker, Bounty Hunter...that's the kind of heroes I'd suggest to a new player. If they want to win games, that is :)

Of course if your team doesn't have a carry it's fine to pick one. But look at your team's picks : if you already have 2 carries...you probably don't want to pick another one. You need to realize that if you play carry, you need to last hit almost every single creep in your lane without your lane partner taking a single one of them ; if you can't do that, you didn't pick the right hero.

Try viper if you are new to dota he's fun and easy and he can be a good hero to practice some fundamentals including orb walking and how important is is to end early,and lane dominance and viper doesn't really need a lot of farm to be effective early-game
