Hello everyone and welcome.
So the last days a have played a lot of matches but my score is nearly everytime the same i have more deaths than kills.
But then i played with Wraith King who is a pretty easy hero and than it started i become more weak at the game and i was thinking what could be the problem?
Is it the hero or my item build, i just don't know.
So my Q is what should i do to get better, i have the feeling that i am not a good help for my team, more a threat for the game and for them, what should i do, should i change the hero or the playstyle, what???? PLEASE HELP :(
btw i am playing DotA and Dota 2 and the problem is the same by both games
I'm a new player too and my suggestion is to start reading guides on the heroes you play usually. You can find a lot of very good ones on this site.
In this way you can understand better the playstyle best suited for your heroes.
If you think the problem could be in a lack of knowledge of the fundamental dynamics of the game, there are good general guides for that too and I really recommend Purge's Welcome to dota: you suck. It's an amazing guide which covers most of the basic aspects of the game and has been invaluable at least for me.
If this is not the problem you should post some replays of your late matches.
I'm probably not in the position to do this, but there are many competent people in this forum that can watch them and tell you what is going wrong.
Just don't panic and remember that everyone has had your same problems at the beginning.

Kills/Deaths/Assists don't matter, the question is could you have avoided those deaths? The only real way to avoid Deaths is to use your Map Awareness, but that takes time to develop.
Just try to look at the Mini-map more while Laning, and try to think to yourself what a Team can throw at you in a Teamfight (long before the Teamfight that is). Are you likely to get caught in a Ravage if you go in? etc.
Escpeially in lower-level Pubs, it's sometimes worth it to just abandon your Team and fall back. Some people will walk into impossible situations where you will only die if you follow them.
As I said though, this relies on your experience and instinct...which take time to develop...
I think looking at a few guides is a good way to get started. But keep in mind that guides are only guides. You can't always rely on them. It has to do with what kind of situation you are in. I suggest doing bot matches until you feel comfortable with a few heroes before jumping into a pub match. There is nothing worse than "experienced" players yelling at new players. THat is how most people just quit playing. I don't want that to happen to you. Here are a few heroes you must try for beginners : Drow Ranger, Vengeful Spirit, Sniper, Dragon Knight(he is a bit iffy for some people). If you are still having trouble, you can send me a PM and maybe we can get a game together. This way i can find out what is causing you to have a weak game.
Something I've realized about new players is that they don't always know when to commit to a fight. This is a hard thing to know. In the beginning its sometimes better to back off until you learn how tanky or evasive your hero is. Later you'll start to get a feeling for the heroes. For example Dragon Knight can survive a lot longer in a fight than a Drow Ranger can.
Don't be afraid to pull out of a fight if you're low HP. Your allies can finish the enemy's off if you are unable to continue. If you die, you lose gold, and allow your opponents more cash to win with, so sometimes its better to survive than to deal that last one attack before dying.
I had this same problem when I was starting out as well. More deaths than kills can seem daunting and saddening at first but the most important thing in the game is not KDA but rather W/L ratio.
As a primary support player I rarely go positive (usually when the other team is out of position a lot) but the majority of the time we still manage to crush the opposing team. Why? because as we all know Dota 2 is a team game with all of the emphasis on team. A good example of this was when I was playing a round with silencer the other day.
We ended up losing the game but the important part was that I was not the person to get kills. I threw myself into the fray to protect our carries who ended up getting extremely farmed and I think the number one part of playing support that makes me happy is seeing all of the kills I spoon fed to our carries.
Plus you can be behind a massive amount in kills and still have the better pushing lineup and win hands down.
So I understand being upset about not getting many kills but just use it as a learning experience and remember as long as your death meant something, like a sure teamfight win for your team, then it is worth it.
Learn to play tanks(durable), not carries/supports(int). The misconceptions people used to have was to pick supports as their pool of heroes. Supports(int) are extremely squishy and require good positioning and map awareness. The support player also needs to know the time for warding, pushing and ganking by heart.
My suggestion is to watch some videos, possibly streams from good players such as Jerax,Merlini, and iceiceice. When you are familiar with all the heroes and skill, you can be confident enough to pwn!
POSITION IS KEY. Remember this!
