So, today I was very excited for the big Diretide and Spirits update: I go to find a match hoping to get my Ember Spirit and start a Diretide game like I used to do last year but, as soon as I enter the first game, there's this guy saying "Pick Pudge and big damage dealers"; most of the players agree with him. I refuse to collaborate (heck, if you want to do a high score just play with 4 friends and look for a 5vs5 match!) and the enemy Pudge promptly insults me and continues until the end of the game.
Second game, same thing: most of the players weren't actually listening to the guy that wanted to do a high score, so he disconnected with his friend and we won because all the Dire side disconnected.
Third time, there's this other guy that, guess what, wanted to get the high score. This time, ready to find a person like him, I opened the Notepad and copy-pasted the chat:
Quoted:
bt.irlut: get damage dealers
Peppo_o'Paccio: Don't go for the prize
Peppo_o'Paccio: I'm gonna play normally
bt.irlut: well **** you too
bt.irlut: i want items
That doesn't say much, but is enough to understand what all these players want from Diretide. But even then, considering you get lots of items even by just playing the gamemode he doesn't have a good point and just wants to play a "different" Diretide game, thinking people always win and get the high score if coordinated. I think that, while low-level pubs don't even consider doing so, for the mid-high matchmaking this is getting slightly out of hand.
The rest of the game went smoothly though, no disconnects and little to no flame.
The point is, is it me or are those people really trying hard to win the first place in the Diretide scoreboard? I've actually tried to do that last year and, believe me, it's not easy at all unless you exploit bugs like people did in Halloween 2012; it's just frustrating for people like me who want to play the game and cannot do that because of some players that think they're the boss. What do you think?
This is the first time I have been able to play diretide, and yeah it has been kinda frustrating. I want to actually play the game, I think the objectives are really cool, and I just don't care about getting a ton of items all the time. I do hope that I run into less of those types of games in the future.
I'm having the exact same problem. Every Diretide game I go into the opposing team is all like "Let's do co-op" and everyone on my team is like "yeah let's do it". I'm the only one shouting "WAR. I WANT WAR". :/
Yeah I could care less about wasting 10-15min at the end killing Rosh. I like winning the first half and then half-***ing Rosh: get two items and move on.
It's ironic. They created a game mode that has a Capture the Flag feel, which has certain alluring qualities when you want to try something else, but then everyone just want to kill Roshan the fastest way possible for the items. Sad for the poor people that wanted Diretide for the game mode.
People will stop wanting to kill rosy fast when you no longer get a 250$ courier.
I don't actually know if the winners still get one but that is the only reason I could think for wanting to get the high score.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.
