I now understand why some people genuinely like to play support(and not just want to rely on cores to carry them). Winning early game for your team is super-satisfactory even if your stats at the end of a game are the worst, there is something to it.
I salute all supports who aren't dog**** and don't ruin the lanes for their team.

Has anyone got a solution to recent trouble I ran into?
The enemy team teams up and keeps roaming the map. Even if I tell my teammates that they are coming or ping them they don't care and then go on to flame me for not having out wards (after I got dewarded or were froced to waste all the money on detection).
Their team usually has way stronger early power and then they just keep deathballing and end the game within 30 mins. I know that I should be doing something but I don't know what to do. I am just a squishy support, unable to even leave the base without being prone to being picked off and killed.
There's no at all reason to play support below like 3500 if you want to climb fast, even if you are not way better than average players in that bracket.
For <3k5 the best way to climb is offlane and mid. Carry(team-independent or a good rat) and scaling roamers like Riki are decent too. Support and stuff like Slardar or CK safelane is pretty horrible.
After 3500 it is actually worth to play support if that's your best role because people can at least somehow use the advantage u give them.
I disagree. I'm hovering just under 3K as I'm writing this and I can tell you, when there is no support on one team, the difference is incredibly noticeable. It's incredibly easy to steamroll a team that picks 5 farmers.
I've been spam picking Abaddon and prefer to go offlane, but when push comes to shove I hard support as the hero and even THAT works out fine: the key is that when one team is five farmers and one is four with a support, your carries get more farmed then theirs. Math is all things!

I think, supports that are impactfully offensive or defensive make sense below 3k also.
Imagine a shaman buying late refresher and transitions to rat.
Or your Oracle buys euls to become a nuker and locking down hero for more than 5 seconds with a simple euls sheep fortunes end combo.
Why do people not buy refresher on Oracle? That is like a million times better than an early guardian greaves. Buy greaves if you can end early, otherwise it's only for slot consolidation, if you ask me. Just get a more impactful item, get a euls or start your aghs, how about that medallion?
Witch doctor is a classic case of transition give him a scepter and *look at it go*.
Don't hard support obviously, because even carries are not efficient with farm utilization in low brackets, so even a support gets farm.
Plus tome of knowledge was introduced ao that supports don't remain underlevelled,! Keep using that stuff!

The question is not how it works in particular games but in general when climbing the ladder. You have to be a really good support(I mean way above average at that bracket) to get a consistent 60%+ wr as pos4/5 and even then if you're so good it would have been easier to just go solo lane and have like 65-70%.

Do you mean to say that support picks get countered at lower brackets also?
Like, what happens if you pick necrophos and go scepter? They buy linkens or BKB or glimmer cape for 3 or 4 cores?
Or omninkight? Mass diffusals or specific hero counters?

It's not about counters lol it's about ppl in lower brackets being awful at using early game advantage supports provide. There's a reason why games in lower brackets often go long. And even if you are playing stuff like Omni you are reliant on some other hero to actually make use of your OP abilities and that's pretty much a gamble.

I have to agree with Dimony here. The problem in any low competence game is people don't know when to push for an advantage, even if they get it, so if you're support you can help win the early game, which doesn't mean you automatically win the game, unless you boss everyone and spam ping them things like "Push now - All dead" (yes, I might or might not do this frequently).
My problem is different: you're grinding, under 3k. If everyone else in that bracket is also grinding, and they think like you, you Do end up with a 5 core team (it has happen to me even this weekend, in a game that thankfully crashed and didn't count). How are you supposed to really improve and get higher mmr with this kind of conditions? So that idea is wrong in its core, because your chances of winning are already diminished compared to the enemy team where that one guy is playing support. You can still win, specially if you play those more independent roles you guys talked about (mid and offlane) spamming pub stompers that you are specialised in, but then you get used to a 1v5 mentality that doesn't help with collaborating with your teams for lower or higher brackets. So, ideally, you would be flexible enough to play whatever your team is missing, and that's your best chances to win and get better at the same time.
