You get 1 early point in glavies because it lets you harrass the offlaner more efficiently without drawing creep aggro? Like, one of Silencer's strengths is his ability to harass, and glavies is just another part of that. And because of his multiple ways to harass he's one of the few potential safe-laners who can zone out an offlaner by himself.
Like, you don't max it first, but it's undoubtedly an amazing value point.
Other thoughts; Ag's is just trash on the hero now. It used to be critical because it was an extra second duration, which is important but now? Now it's just a really minor bit of damage and mana burn on 5 heroes, which isn't worth 4200 gold.
Personally I love Illidan's item build - It solves most of the heroes issues in that he's initially squishy and has kiting issues, (As well as being a big damage steriod due to glavies), and then AC gives him the attack speed he wants (Since he needs it more than damage), improves his pushing, and makes him even tankier.
Octarine Core is more viable on Silencer than Puck because his ulti wants the reduced cooldown more, as does Refresher. Like, the two silences wins fights when timed well, so lower the downtime makes you scarier in the late game. (Whereas Dream Coil is rarely as fight winning). That and he builds into it better than Puck, since he can say drop the Rod of Aui for it (Which becomes less important on him once you get Sycthe)
I can't for the life off me remember if you lifesteal off of Glavies, because if you do then it's even better on him, and definately your choice of 6th item.
Finally, I kinda think he's a better core than support nowadays, because he's really greedy, and he actually hits really hard when given space to get levels.
Why would you build Skadi? You can't get damage from Glavies if you build it because they aren't stackable Orbs. Like, sure you can suddenly keep from being kited, but you suddenly deal no damage.

It's just better to get Scythe of Vyse and kill them within those 3.5 seconds instead I'd say :/
And I don't think you'd need Butterfly after AC, because AC is the attack speed you want given you have great agi growth. A second Agility item just overdoes it a little. Like, maybe if you are against a line-up that's not built into MKB's as a first damage item, so you can get extra value from it? Because fter MKB's come out you just don't get enough out of the item compared to Agi carries. I'd argue Moon Shard would be a better attack speed investment however, because it doesn't eat into your item slots.
Shiva's Guard is another item worth mentioning, tanks you up, and gives you a slow to help with the kiting issue, as well as being more damage. Or Heart, since I think your 6-slot would be complete with another item to help you just tank a little, and survive through the enemy BKB timings (Since, that's the only thing keeping you from slaughtering them eventually).
EDIT; That item slot is also usually the slot for stuff like BKB and MKB, both of which are items you will need in some games.
Octarine Core over Shiva's Guard in most situations I'd say. Simply because it's a lot of sustain in fights between the HP, the damage from the int, and lifestealing off of blades, it helps a lot. Oh and lowering the cooldown of Refresher Silence is really strong.
Shiva's is more situational to me than Octarine on the hero,
I have played a fair amount of pos1 silencer as well lately. Under the right circumstances, he can actually do insanely well. His problem is, that he really is dependent on a good laning stage. Because his mobility also is pretty much non-existent, the entire lineup needs to somewhat be built around him, making him not viable in every game. As a pos1, i also favor the 0-4-4-1 build at level 9. Imo CotS is more of a support skill, as it really helps with zoning opponents...which isnt really your priority, when you have to focus on farming. Glaives of Wisdom, once maxed, actually is a surprisingly strong early and midgame skill, as it basically is better than a perma double damage rune.
For items, i found that Silver Edge is pretty good on him as well. Mostly because it is a good compromise between mobility, chasing and tankiness. While the break aspect is only usefull in some situations, the maim component helps you to stay in attacking range and the buildup from Sange makes you generally more durable.
Octarine Core isnt half bad on Silencer as well. It gives good stats (esp the int), greatly reduces your ult cd and the spell-steal mechanic applies to the glaives as well.
I know, that a pre 6-slotted Moonshard pickup is very debatable, but since glaives do pure damage and dont really profit that much from UAMs anyway, i could see them work as well.
Getting curse in lane for this game will be pointless i feel since my opposing laners are playing really safe. Me and SK got first blood and that one kill just make our foe scared.
