Guys lets talk Lycan.

I want to start playing him but I really dont know how.

One thing im bothered is the fact that he is a pusher while his ulti gave him some damage to begin with. Why not play a manfight Lycan?

I really want to build Manta Style on him too. Its just so.. satisfying.

How should I play him guys? Is jungling Lycan any good?

How do I jungle Lycan guys? I suck at laning as a CS-er and I'd rather do hard work at the woods.

You load into the game. You pick Lycan. You tell your team that you will jungle. You tell your team that you will not fight with them. You tell your team that you will split push. You do this in a nice way because you are Lycan picker and you want to win. You buy stout, quelling, tangoes in that exact order. You go jungle. You get: level 7, 4-0-2-1 skill build. You have: vlads, quelling, stout, smoke. You smoke and take rosh before 10 minutes. You time that **********er. You buy brown boots. You go push a lane or take ancients if there is no safe lane to push. You repeat until game is won. You never fight with your team ever. You never fight without your team ever. Wolves need no armour. Why do wolves need no armour you may ask? Wolves need no armour because wolves never fight; wolves split push. This is why wolves need no armour. Your team dying 4 mid? You do not fight with them. You do not teleport to them. You do not flame them. You are Lycan and you want to win. You have teleportation scrolls but you use them to get to lanes as far away from danger as possible and push. You tell your team to fight under tower. You tell your team not to come to your lane. You do this in a nice way because even though wolves need no armour wolves want to win games. If you are getting ganked (you should be looking at the mini map and not be in a situation where you’re getting ganked) but if you are getting ganked you know what to do: you listen to Lycan and Lycan tells you what? That’s right you sonofa*****: Lycan tells you that "the wolf runs". You pop that ultimate, you back off and you TP out. You push another lane or you farm jungle/farm ancients/smoke roshan. If you don't know what to do then what do you do? That's right; you listen to Lycan again and Lycan tells you that "the wolf runs" and that "wolves need no armour". This does not mean "the wolf fights"; it means that the wolf go split push. You are on a lane preferably furthest away from danger. You are in the jungle or at the ancients farming. You are at roshan getting that aegis timing that ****. You get necro 1, 2, 3. You upgrade your brown boots into boots of travel. You do it in this exact order. You keep that split push going. You smoke rosh whenever he's up. You keep telling your team not to be with you or come to your lanes. You are Lycan. You are nice about it. You are split push. You are objectives. You are win. You remember that "wolves love to battle" against structures because then wolves will need no armour and wolves can run in circles around the structures. You never fight. You end the game with 0-0-0 and the highest building damage ever conceived by man.

Someone had to say it.

If you want to jungle him then you have to spawn your wolves into the fountain to get mana back, bit personally i dont really reccomend it since he doesnt constribute much early and can just get overrun.

Manta.... Meehhhhh, it sounds good on paper but lycan starts falling off when you dont have more high impact items then your inventory.

I think i built necrobook almost always, i used to not really like it a year ago but it did work the last succesfull game i played him, so maybe i just used it badly.

Combat lycan is fine in pubs though. Bkb, basher, AC, maybe deso works good on him too if you can run around killing ****.

Manfight Lycan is easy to do. <}3

Power Treads -> Vladmir's Offering for easy Rosh, Black King Bar to be able to charge in and chase down your target, Abyssal Blade for lockdown, Desolator + Assault Cuirass for more Damage while also increasing your Pushing POWA!

What is it with scrubs and wanting to lvl1 Jungle when there's a Safe Lane out there? 8{3

Seriously though, Micro your Wolves to Tank some of the Damage, but you're going to have to Tank some yourself once they get low. Other than that, same as any other "Jungler" that should be Laning, Right-Click constantly and rush Morbid Mask.

If you want to fight with a strength carry not named Dragon Knight, like Lifestealer, Wraith King, even Slardar, you will need armor at some point.

Manta Lycan? It's alright, but not great, since you don't naturally stack stats on him, but if you do, sure, go hunt some supports with mantas. However, for Lycan, run Manta on your DK and buy Necro or armor.

Generally, you want to lane Lycan, since he has high base damage and you need to learn to CS, bots are good for that. Starting jungle is slow, but its better to learn to jungle him in pubs if no BHs and Rikis on enemy team, because your allies are not on your side and will force you to buy armor.

Fighting Lycan, make Vlads, Make Armlet, make BKB, make AC, you need armor.

The only time Lycan should ever be fighting is if he is
A) in ult form
And b) chasing down a squishy support.
Lycan does not man fight. If you want to man fight go be Lifestealer and infest a Storm Spirit or something.

And terathiel, commends for days :D
