O gawd why would you do s&y on an int hero. (or most agi heroes for that matter.)
BE A MAN AND GO MJOLLNIR OR MASK OF
MADNESS.

The HP, armour and maim are too good... Though i like the Mjollnir idea... A lightning Ogre! Must test this.

You do realise that it gives less armor then a ring of protection which costs 200 gold?
And even an atos will give more HP and damage.

If you were to buy an armlet and never ever activate it that would still be more cost efficient.
And seriously? Maim? I have literally noticed that 2 times and my complete time playing XD
You can also try shadow blade, it gives more damage and 2 less attack speed and the ability to go around the map to kill people. You probably need that or blink to be effective as a core ogre.

Yeah i know it doesn't really add any armour.

I know it also gives less than other things, but to get equal to it, from what you suggested, i would need to get an armlet (2400) and Shadow Blade (2800) = 5200 and 2 item slots. whereas i could just get S&Y for 4100 and 1 item slot (and non of this toggling nonsense!).
When you break down what the individual aspects S&Y does it never sounds like a good item, but all of it combined works (for one item slot...).
Obviously, it isn't made for someone like Ogre, but it has been useful so far. I'll definitely try Shadow Blade and maybe get a different item to tank up a bit.

Yeah, Dagger is needed.

I used to like the Maelstrom build on Alchy, back when he got bonus HP on his ult. With that BAT bonus he could throw out a lot of lightning, and it's cheaper than a Battle Fury (which gives you regen you don't need).

To upset Tim some more, I quite like to build Doom like this:

Ring of Basilius -> Phase Boots -> Armlet of Mordiggian -> Vladmir's Offering -> Assault Cuirass, then into Refresher Orb, Shiva's Guard, Heart of Tarrasque, Blade Mail...whatever really.

Basically you're a big tanky aura carrier with a nice utility spell who can hit pretty hard. Doom has great primary stat gain, he just has piss poor agility. You'll notice my build includes a lot of armour and attack speed. I figure you can balance out the health loss from the Armlet pretty well with Scorched Earth and some lifesteal. Meanwhile, with an Alpha Wolf nom'd, you offer nearby allies about 45% base damage bonus together with the armour reduction from the AC. I like it anyway, lets me get involved midgame where that Armlet toggling is really helpful :).

Tbh I realise my other "non-standard-pub" builds will quickly get pretty boring, but here goes:

- Jakiro, play hard support, realise that your ****py 1 - 2.2 second stun isn't really worth that much against a single target, and that most of your ult damage requires big disable from your team anyway. Buy brown boots, Urn of Shadows and team utility consumables. Grab a Force Staff, Veil of Discord, Mekansm or Eul's Scepter of Divinity if you get rich.

- Dazzle, play hard support, realise that you don't really need very much to do your job. Buy brown boots, Medallion of Courage and Urn of Shadows. Maybe one day you'll get that Aghanim's Scepter if the game goes late. Beg team for 1600 gold for a Ghost Scepter if you keep getting picked on.

- Vengeful Spirit, realise that you're the only or hardest support on the team, drop pretensions of being a semi-carry or initiator (of anything but the suicidal variety), buy useful team items, brown boots and a medallion.

- Ancient Apparition, Disruptor or Witch Doctor, realise you're a support, buy team utility. Brown boots, a bit of HP and then grab an Aghanim's Scepter if at all possible because it's really, really good.

- Rubick, Lion etc. Realise you're a support, and somebody needs to buy the wards. That probably includes you. Get basic boots, a little HP and do the essentials. Hope you have:

1) Another support on the team
2) That this mythical support realises you'll be much more useful with a blink and helps you out.
3) If this isn't the case, don't leave the team with no utility and you with no stats trying to save up for it too soon.

This! Specifically point 3! Every pub Lion does this. Get Tranquils, save for blink, die many times, get blink at 45 minutes. As opposed to get Tranquils, get wand, get Urn and/or Force Staff, get Blink while having been useful.

While we are at it,

don't use your 600+ nuke to do 50 damage

. Use it when you open on someone, burst that mother down! The carry should (normally) get the kills anyway.
