Armlet is great on him because of the super high HP regen (covers up for the armlet loss), you also must get a tank item since he has the worst stat gain in the game.

Ah sheeeeeit

Build works like a charm, boys :D.

Also I had another game with this build, but we lost really hard because we had a CM + WD "combo". The story really stretches back to around a month ago, where I was playing dota with my friend. We just wanted an ordinary game with ordinary challenges, but then 2 of our other teammates picked CM + WD, then went to the safelane without a word. Since I was playing a carry (forgot which one), I went to the safelane with them and expected a tri-lane. Unfortunately, these idiots stole all the farm. They did get kills, but they didn't buy support item for the entirety of the game, and when I left the lane they began to feed so horribly that it wasn't even funny. They refused to stick with the team and only went around with each other. Then we lost because we were basically 3v5 (2v5 if you count me without farm lol). They also flamed like crazy after I questioned their bad decisions.

So when my friend and I met them again we were like "nope", muted and reported them for intentional feeding. True enough, they did.

If you happen to ever come across 2 people in the same team wih Chinese characters for their names who pick those 2 heroes, instantly when the picking phase starts or otherwise, then please report them.

Outcarried, simple as that.

Spectre, Troll, Medusa… they all have a lot more output with the same items.

If you give them all Skadi / SnY / Drums, they will wreck an Alchemist easily.

He's still got a lot of useful skills...but yeah, it's kinda difficult to see why you would pick him exactly atm (and he's not as good as Troll isn't an argument btw :)).

It's not necessarily that he needs his nerfs undoing completely, more alleviating a little. E.g. give him another half second of full power throw time on his stun, maybe halve the effects if he stuns himself. Maybe give him 100/200/300 bonus max HP back on his ult. It's not 900 like it used to be, but a small reversal to see how it ends up.

Thing is, Alchy has always been something of a blank slate carry - you know you'll get good attack speed/BAT and regen, and a farming bonus. You know you'd get ****ty stats and armour.

I've had a few games recently against farmed Alchs and I'm really starting to see how weak the hero has become. I thought a lot of the Alchemist hate was just because he wasn't popular and that he didn't fit the meta or whatever, but he's pretty subpar right now.

The only time he's really good is once he has Abyssal and can just lockdown a single target and permabash them. That's the ONLY time I've seen an Alchemist actually have impact. For him to be the position 1, he needs a lot of heavy CC on his team. If not, he needs to just be tank and get Crimson Guard and stuff.

I think he might do better as like a number 2 mid in a dual lane with Io. He can clear stacks with acid and with ult and tether, he's pretty ridiculous to try and bring down. Just a thought though.

The thing that made him strong was that you didnt know where he would lane and play. He could be in an agressive trilane and wreck people with his strong and more forgivable stun, or he could be safelane and farm more. and there were no rotating supports or duallanes so if he was safelane he would get big.
And then he could either level greed and get literally 3 times as farmed as the opposing carry with battlefury or radiance. (mjollnir was bugged i believe, couldnt proc a lightning when another was flying).
Or he could get some points in greed and them max stun and acid and suddenly appear with 12 minute midas shadowblade and wreck people.

shadow blade is less good since it and the stun was nerfed, the rubberband mechanics are there, agressive trilanes are worse, aggro duallanes are strong and can limit his farm. He can get bursted hard since he doesnt have bonus HP anymore, so he isnt that tanky anymore. Itembuild is more awkward since you need both HP, armor, attackspeed, initiation, abyssal, possibly BKB. He was just nerfed so hard directly and indirectly.

Yeah Tim, one of the great things about Alchemist used to be that you could run him almost anywhere - carry, support, mid, etc. It didn't give much away about your plan. Tbh he was a bit OP back in those days, as you say, he's a bit over-nerfed now, and doesn't really fit the meta that well.

If everyone is ricing anyway, why pick the guy who can get gold faster but needs more items, and then drops off against 6-slotted opponents?

A few gentle buffs may bring him back into consideration, he doesn't need a lot, just enough for that flexibility to be appealing again. I kinda get that tanking him up can work, but I'm not a huge fan of #1 carries who are really tough to kill but lack DPS - that's a #2 or #3 in my book.

I always liked the vg.super mid alchemist, teams were firstbanning that against VG post TI3, untill that stun nerf completely crippled his usability. Btw i still dont completely get how that stun works, i can never find how much damage that thing does at what point in charging, at the moment it just seems like the thing does a 100 damage unless it only has 0.5 sec to go and acid is down. With the 7 sec charge time and the in air charging (that was the OP thing) alc's smacked 3/4th's of a rubicks HP with medallion roaming action.
