Took awhile and I've told myself I probably should have reached it sooner if I played more but finally I'm at 5k MMR and I wanted to share my "accomplishment" with the people at Dotafire. Hopefully I'm consistent enough to stay within this bracket and never fall back down to the 4k ****-hole again.
A lot of people have already reached past 5k but for me this is probably the biggest milestone I've reached in Dota 2. I've had so many up and downs, tilts and rises that I've experienced most if not all frustrations in the game. I calibrated at 4.2 in the beginning and rose to 4.8 very quickly. After I hit 4.8, I hit this brick wall where I slowly started losing MMR points all the way down to about 4000. At this point I was this close to quitting Dota forever if I ever went below 4000. Fortunately I didn't and I slowly gained back what I lost.
I'm just really excited to finally reach 5k and I wanted to share a bit of my journey. If you guys want some advice to get to where you want to be at let me know.
Also Wulfstan, your Peruvian blessing gave me Russians instead.
I have a friend who is currently at 4.1k and he always complains about the trench. I'm amazed. From my low 2K vantage point i would have though when you get to 4K everyone is better at the game and more cooperative.
Amazed it's so bad there. Congrats on making it out though!
I'm well aware that for some people 4's ****, that it's actually trenchy, but eh I don't think it's the good place to consider 4k as a **** rank since most of us around or below that:p
Btw that game I played Skywrath Mage core reking the mid lane8D
Congrats mate, welcome to the new trench :). The few games I've played with you it's pretty obvious your deserve that rank.
As has been said before, you do get a better overall skill level as you move up (don't have to worry so much about ****py last hitters or people who are completely clueless). What you generally won't find much improvement in is people's attitudes - if anything you can end up with more KDA obsessed try hards.
