Preface

Alright guys this is not like a full, full guide. Nor it is my impression on the items.

Im going to go over what they do, their stats, in what heroes they are going to be bought most likely, all that kind of stuff.

Also I am sorry about the size of these pictures, they are the ones from the update page, and arent that great.

I will be updating this when the items are added to the main client, with ingame pictures and so on.

Some of the new items are naturally confusing, even I was sort of lost when I tried to figure what the **** the Glimmer Cape did. Also, these are not in the order they were in the patch notes, not that it matters, I left the most confusing to do last, and the Mango too.

Shall we?

1. Solar Crest

Ok so first off: Solar Crest.

Solar Crest is purchased by combining a Medallion of Courage and a Talisman of Evasion.

Costs 3000:
-1200 gold from Medallion of Courage
-1800 gold from Talisman of Evasion
-No recipe

Passive: Passive wise is basically an upgrade of the Medallion of Courage, plus the 30% evasion from the Talisman of Evasion. Just by having it in your inventory you get:

+10 Armor
+30% Evasion
+75% mana regen*

*This mana regen comes from the Sage's Mask from Medallion of Courage, and you stick with it even if you are using the active.
Active: The active is very similar to a Medallion of Courage active, but just overall more powerful.

When used on an ally:

-You lose the passives from the item, so basically no +10 Armor and no 30% Evasion.
-The ally you targetted gains the +10 Armor and 30% Evasion instead of you.

Just like a Medallion of Courage, basically you pop this if you wanna save someone or if they are going to dive, etc.

When used on an enemy:

-You lose the passives from the item, so basically no +10 Armor and no 30% Evasion.
-The targetted enemy is applied a -10 Armor and 30% Miss chance debuff.

The buff/debuff lasts 7 seconds, and the cooldown of Solar Crest is 7 seconds as well.

No mana cost.

-Can be dissasembled into its components.
-If the enemy/ally pops Magic Immunity like a BKB, they lose the debuff/buff, you still have it though.

*Stuff that is not noted.

-Even though its purged with Spell Immunity, you can cast it through it.
-Ignores Linken's Sphere.
-Can be purged ( Diffusal Blade, Repel, etc).
-Can target mechanical units.
-Does not activates Roshan's Spell Block.
-A unit can be affected by the buff and the debuff at the same cast, but not by multiple buffs or debuffs from it.
-This means when an enemy casts it on you and you it on an enemy, the debuffs refresh each other.
-But when an enemy and an ally casts it on you, you receive the buff and the debuff, both independent from each other.
-Has a 1000 cast range, and its instant, much like Medallion of Courage.

This being basically a bigger Medallion of Courage is a buff to core heroes that buy Medallion of Courage already, and for supports to scale theirs for later.

- Lycan
- Vengeful Spirit
- Bounty Hunter
- Tusk
-Etc

They are given better a better item possibility for their slot, a way to scale better later, and also puts Medallion of Courage and Solar Crest into the carry pickup territory.

2. Silver Edge

Silver Edge:

Silver Edge is purchased by combining a Shadow Blade, a Sange and a cheap recipe.

Costs 5200:
-2800 gold from Shadow Blade
-2050 gold from Sange
-350 gold recipe.

Passive: It grants you all these effects passively:

+32 Damage
+30 Attack Speed
+16 Strength

And the Sange passive effect, Lesser Maim, is carried to Silver Edge.

-Each attack has a chance to slow the enemy's movement and attack speed for 4 seconds.

15% Chance of attack to apply the effect
20% Movement Speed slow
20 Attack Speed slow
4 Seconds slow duration

-Successive procs on the same target do not stack, but refresh the duration instead.
-The proc chance of Lesser Maim from multiple Sange work fully independent from each other.
-Fully Stacks with the Lesser Maim from Heaven's Halberd and from Sange (yet to be verified), and with the Greater Maim from Sange and Yasha, including the slow.
-Doesnt work on wards or buildings, or against Lone Druid's Bear.
-Can proc when attacking ally units.

Active: The active is again, very similar to a Shadow Blade's active, just better.

When activated:
-You become invisible after a 0.3 second fade time
-The invisibility lasts 14 seconds and Silver Edge has a 24 second cooldown
-Costs 75 Mana, just like Shadow Blade
-While invisible you are granted 20% faster movement speed and phase effect.

If you break the invisibility with a regular attack:
-Said attack has an extra 225 physical damage, and disables the target's passives and all of their damage outputs (Right clicks, Spells & Items) by 40%, for 5 seconds.
-This attack cannot miss
-The extra damage pierces spell immunity, being only physical, but the debuff does not pierce it.
-Ignores Linken's Sphere (yet to be verified)

Stuff that is not noted:

-Does not interrupt the owner's channeling spells upon cast (to be verified)
-The bonus damage is directly added to the attack damage, so it can be reduced with e.g. Enfeeble, Static Link.
-However, it cannot be amplified with elements like Empower or a Double Damage Rune
-The damage is considered by lifesteal, cleaves, Splash ( Elder Dragon Form), Psi Blades but not Critical Hits.
-During the fade time, the user can cast spells, use items and perform attacks without breaking the invisibility.
-Those attacks will apply the effect and damage to the target. (to be verified)
-The bonus damage does not apply when attacking wards and buildings out of the invisibility.
-The invisibility is lost upon reaching the cast point of spells, or upon finishing an attack, for ranged heroes this is upon projectile launch, so for example you can cast Requiem of Souls without it breaking on cast, but on finishing the animation.
-The user can pick up and drop items without breaking the invisibility.

Just by looking at it you already see it, this item is going to be huge on Tusk, Kunkka and especially Legion Commander as she can disable your passive now.

This item basically puts more focus into the stealth initiation part of invisibility, gives a great effect of Break (disable ability passives) that counters directly defensive passives like Blur, Berserker's Blood, Reactive Armor, etc. So far disables almost all passives, an exception is, of course, Reincarnation.

3. Lotus Orb

Lotus Orb:

Lotus Orb is purchased by combining a Perseverance, a Platemail and a recipe.

Costs 4050:
-1750 gold from Perseverance
-1400 gold from Platemail
-900 gold from the recipe

Passive: Very simple combination of the Perseverance and the Platemail, provides the holder with:

+5 Hp regen
+125% Mana regen
+10 Damage
+10 Armor

To be honest doesnt sound too amazing, but its not a 5000 gold item and you are going to be buying it for its active.

Active: This is where it starts getting confusing. I will try to simplify it as its possible, so, on activation:

-Target an ally unit, or yourself. Has a 900 cast range.
-The selected unit is applied with a new effect called Echo Shell.
-Echo Shell purges off any negative buffs (except stuns and other hard debuffs)
-While in Echo Shell, any spells targetted to the affected hero are reflected to the caster. This does not mean that stuff like damage is reflected like a Blade Mail; in the case of Echo Shell the spell is literally re-casted to them, with a visible effect. This works with any spell that would interact with a Linken's Sphere in regular lines, ergo, most unit targetted spells.
-Echo Shell has a 6 second duration.
-Costs 100 mana
-Has a 17 second cooldown, like a Linken's Sphere.

Note that the spell is not blocked. Just recasted., for example if someone uses Hex on you, they become Hexed as well, if they use Laguna Blade on you, they get a Laguna Blade on them as well.

The difference between Echo Shell and a Blade Mail in terms of reflecting nukes, a Blade Mail is better, since they deflect the damage in pure form, Echo Shell just uses the spell back on them. Echo Shell is more aimed at deflecting disables, for example imagine deflecting Shackleshot at Windranger.

Think of Lotus Orb as a combination of a Blade Mail and a Linken's Sphere. I am not sure yet but sounds like its going to be bought by usual Blade Mail carriers like Clockwerk, but also sounds like a situational alternative for a Linken's Sphere on heroes like Queen of Pain or Windranger.

If you want to know what spells can be deflected by Lotus Orb's Echo Shell you can go here.

4. Moon Shard

Moon Shard:

Moon Shard is purchased by combining two Hyperstones and a recipe.

Costs 4300:
-2000 gold from the first Hyperstone
-2000 gold from the second Hyperstone
-300 gold from the recipe.

Passive: As you would expect by its components, Moon Shard gives you an outstanding amount of Attack Speed. To be exact, provides the user with:
+120 Attack Speed

On top of that, it gives the user an extra 250 night vision. This works against Night Stalker's darkness too.

Active: This one has a very special active.

On use: Moon Shard is consumed (the item is destroyed), and provides the user a permanent buff (like for example Legion Commander's Duel extra damage), of +60 Attack Speed. Consuming multiple Moon Shards wont give you +60 every time you do it, only works once.

This sounds like an item for agility carries to hold on to during the mid game and once you get slotted you consume it and go for another item.

- Faceless Void
- Sniper
- Alchemist
- Luna
- Juggernaut
- Phantom Assassin probably
-Etc.

5. Octarine Core

Octarine Core:

Octarine Core is purchased by combining a Mystic Staff and a Soul Booster.

Costs 5900:
-2700 gold from Mystic Staff
-3200 gold from Soul Booster

Passive: Pretty big item, expensive, big stats, big passives. First of all, provides the holder with:

+25 Intelligence
+450 Hp
+400 Mana
+4 Hp Regen
+100% Mana Regen

On top of all those atributes: Cooldown Reduction: All of the holder's cooldowns (I am assuming both spells & items) by 25%.

On top of THAT: Spell Lifesteal: Restores the holder's health by a percentage of the damage they deal via spells. 25% for heroes, 5% for creeps.

This item has no active effect.

Holy. ****. Alright you might think this item is a weird pickup, like a fifth item for core int heroes. Its much more than that, this item is really potent, whoever holds this has a considerable upper hand is most fights. This item will be amazingly good on heroes like:

- Leshrac
- Necrophos
- Death Prophet
-outworld devourer
- Storm Spirit maybe
- Queen of Pain even, reducing Sonic Wave's cooldown to 30 seconds if you have Aghanim's Scepter and Octarine Core, and having lifesteal on top. Oh the humanity.

6. Guardian Greaves

Guardian Greaves:

Guardian Greaves is a type of boots, purchased by combining Arcane Boots, a Mekansm and a fairly expensive recipe.

Costs 5300:
-1350 gold from Arcane Boots
-2300 gold from Mekansm
-1650 gold from the recipe

Passive: The user is granted all these:

+55 Movement Speed
+250 Mana pool
+5 All Stats
+5 Armor

Also has a passive aura effect: Provides 2 armor and 4 health regeneration aura. When a target's health is lower than 20% it instead provides 15 armor and 15 health regen, this includes yourself of course.

Active: Its active is basically a combination of a Mekansm with Arcane Boots on top of a dispel.

When activated restores 250 Hp and 160 Mana to nearby allies (I assume in the radius of a Mekansm). Also on activation dispels any debuffs on you, works against any debuff that would regularly be dispelled by a BKB. 45 second cooldown.

Sounds like an item that will be purchased by position 4 fighting supports. First thing that pops in my head is Enigma and Undying. It is a rather expensive item though.

7. Glimmer Cape

Glimmer Cape:

Glimmer Cape is purchased with just a Shadow Amulet and a Cloak.

Costs 1950:
-1400 gold from Shadow Amulet
-550 gold from Cloak
-No recipe

Passive: Even if you are buying this more for its active, Glimmer cape provides the holder with:

+30 Attack Speed
+20 Magic Resistance

Active: This active is pretty wonky and I had to read it three times to fully understand it, its a fairly powerful effect for what the item costs honestly, and I think it will be purchased as long as people remember it exists. On activation:

-Target any ally unit in a 900 cast range, or yourself and turn them invisible after a 0.4 second fade time.
-While invisible, the unit gains 66% extra magic resistance.
-The invisibility lasts 5 seconds.
-Unlike Shadow Amulet, moving will not break your invisibility.
-Attacking, casting a spell and other interactions will break your invisibility and restart the fade time, attempting to turn you invisible for whatever time of invisibility you have left. (yet to be tested again).
-The bonus magic resistance only takes effect during the invisibility, not the fade time.
-16 second cooldown
-No mana cost
-Can be dissasembled
-Can be cast while channeling

This last one is what makes this item make sense, in a whole.

Think about it, not only the easy answers, like Crystal Maiden or Witch Doctor, casting this for your ult, being invis and magic resistant. What really made me realize how is this item fitting in my build is Pudge, this item is basically made for Pudge really.

-Cast Glimmer Cape on yourself
-Toss that Meat Hook
-Turn on Rot
-Cast Dismember
-You turn invisible, gaining 66% extra magic resistance against your own Rot.
-They cant cancel your Dismember unless they have detection and a way of stopping your channeling.

Alternatively:
-Cast Glimmer Cape once you start using Dismember, not as efficient, but you wont be wasting Glimmer Cape if you fail the hook.

8. Enchanted Mango

Enchanted Mango:

This is a simple item, a consumable, like a Healing Salve, but different in its own right.

Costs 150:
-150 from Mango
-No recipe, its a Mango.

Passive: Believe it or not, the Mango has a passive effect, even if its a consumable.

Each individual Mango, as long as you have it on your inventory provides you with +1 Hp Regen.

Similar to Shared Tangoes they do not stack in a single slot, so if you want to have three mangoes on you, you need to have three free slots.

Active: It has an active effect of course, and like with other consumables, the Mango is used in activation.

Eat Mango Get 150 Mana.

Simple, and instant.

You must be thinking, who would buy a 150 gold item to regen 150 mana instantly, when you can buy a 50 gold Clarity wait a bit and get 135 mana. Well, first off, it takes 40 seconds. Second, you dont get the Hp regen.

Just from the top of my head, when I read the Mango I think roamers, big roamers, like Mirana. Have sweet HP Regen, fail your arrow, use the Mango. Easy.

9. Boots Of Travel v2.0

The New Boots Of Travel Upgrade:

You can now purchase an upgraded version of Boots of Travel by buying the recipe again.

Costs 4450:
-450 gold from Boots of Speed
-2000 gold from the first recipe
-2000 gold from the second recipe

The difference between this and regular Boots of Travel is that with Upgraded Boots of Travel you can target and teleport to heroes, like as you would with a creep.

Its just a buff to heroes that buy early Boots of Travel, such as Tinker, Skywrath Mage, Meepo, etc. However, I dont see people buying the Upgraded Boots of Travel early, there is better stuff out there to spend 2000 gold.

This upgrade goes along the lines of Moon Shard, talking about improving your already 6 slotted inventory, by consuming items or giving dead ends upgrades (Solar Crest, Silver Edge too).
