Hi guys, Crippling Depression here! Since the last one of these I did prompted a lot of interesting discussion, and it's very outdated, I figured we'd have another go at doing some hardcore thot maths.

So basically, I'm going to have this ranked not in order of DPS, but ranked in order of which stats make me the moistest.

Parameters

These tests and numbers have been calculated with the heroes scaled to the absolute utmost of their fighting potential. Those heroes whomst can fight without boots (like Weaver), will be doing so. Those who cannot (like Juggernaut) shall be given boots of the teleporting kind. Essentially, all the heroes tested are 8-9 slotted, but given reasonable items that'd allow them to fight with those 8 or 9 slots.

DPS tests were calculated on a target dummy in demo mode, so bear in mind they're against a 0 armour target with 25% magic resistance.

Needless to say, don't expect to see these numbers exactly in game since it's rare that anyone gets 8 or 9 slotted.

So let's get some of these nice thicc stats down!

1. Spectre

Items: Manta Style, Bloodthorn, Abyssal Blade, Eye of Skadi, Butterfly, Assault Cuirass
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, Radiance, Refresher Orb)
Talents: +5 armour, +8 all stats, +20 Strength, +400 Health

Health: 4015
Mana: 1744
Armour: 23 + 20
Damage: 185 + 100
Attack Rate: 0.37

Effective Health (vs Physical): 28,237
Effective Health (vs Magical): 6,852

DPS: 2,300
Spectre's DPS isn't disgustingly high like many other heroes on this list, but this is against a 0-armour target - since Desolate is pure damage, it doesn't drop off as rivalling carries begin getting more armour. Additionally, Dispersion contributes a frankly gross amount of damage.

2. Terrorblade

Items: Manta Style, Hurricane Pike, Butterfly, Eye of Skadi, Eye of Skadi, Daedalus
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, Refresher Orb)
Talets: +15 attack speed, +200 Health, +15 Agility, +15 all stats

Health: 3750
Mana: 2181
Armour: 44
Damage: 368 + 110
Attack Rate: 0.31

Effective Health (vs Physical): 21,367
Effective Health (vs Magical): 5,000

DPS: 4,800
Yeah, no surprises this guy's up there. He's always done a ****-ton of damage, and has a vast amount of armour so he's exceptionally resilient against physical damage.

3. Chaos Knight

Items: Manta Style, Heart of Tarrasque, Scythe of Vyse, Octarine Core, Butterfly, Assault Cuirass
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel)
Talents: +15 attack speed, +10 Strength, +12 all stats, +20% cooldown reduction

Health: 4685
Mana: 1186
Armour: 23 + 15
Damage: 222 + 30
Attack Rate: 0.40

Effective Health (vs Physical): 23,250
Effective Health (vs Magical): 6,246

DPS: 4,700
Another mathematical powerhouse. Before you go "Octarine and Sheepstick? Why?", it's because Octarine and your level 25 talent give you just over 30 seconds of ult downtime and 3.6 seconds on your Reality Rift, and Sheepstick gives you the mana and regen you need to actually make use of that. Plus... look at the numbers. Do you really need two more fighting items?

4. Arc Warden

Items: Manta Style, Mjollnir, Butterfly, Hurricane Pike, Bloodthorn, Silver Edge
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel)
Talents: +25 attack speed, +30 damage, +10% cooldown reduction, +30% lifesteal

Health: 2920
Mana: 1681
Armour: 20
Damage: 188 + 174
Attack Rate: 0.32 (0.28 in Magnetic Field)

Effective Health (vs Physical): 9,765
Effective Health (vs Magical): 3,893

DPS: 4,500
Yes, the Self deals an absolute ****-ton of damage. While he's very squishy, it's hard to actually get a good series of attacks at Zet between all the evasive methods he has at his disposal, and his ability to completely and single-handedly dictate the pace of the game. Also worth noting - in Magnetic Field, the Self reaches maximum attack speed, the only hero that does this aside from Troll Warlord.

5. Anti-Mage

Items: Manta Style, Butterfly, Abyssal Blade, Eye of Skadi, Aghanim's Scepter, Daedalus
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, Battle Fury)
Talents: +20 damage, -1s Blink cooldown, +10 all stats, +25 Agility

Health: 3310
Mana: 1743
Armour: 30
Damage: 249 + 140
Attack Rate: 0.34

Effective Health (vs Physical): 14,145
Effective Health (vs Magical): 8826

DPS: 2,600
I really like what 7.00 did to Anti-Mage. The addition of the backpack made his lategame so much better, and his Aghanim's Scepter is gross. The massive drop-off he faced compared to other hard carries? Pretty much gone. Now that he can scale up to 9 slots, Anti-Mage is a much scarier thing to come up against.

[line]

Part 2 coming soon, featuring less obviously gross stat heroes.

Great post - I'm actually surprised that you put Agh's for Antimage, I always thought linkens was better.

Where's Morphling and tiny and monkey king and stuff? :D

Currently Anti Mage can really choose between Aghanim's Scepter and Linken's Sphere, Aghs being a great choice in some games. However, pubs exaggerate as they always do, thinking it made the hero OP and it was a no-brainer choice, when in fact it isn't at all - and you can verify that by the amount of Linken's that keeps being bought by high level players.

Recently I even heard that discussion on the panel of some event, commentators baffled by the Linken's. Simple: some spells are useless reflected and you really want to avoid them. The most obvious example is Duel. Besides, the stats from Linkens might still be considered superior on AM: for a few gold difference you also get attack damage, mana regen and +5 attributes.

My possibly favourite AM right now even built both recently (and lost lol): https://www.dotabuff.com/esports/players/21289303/matches?hero=anti-mage

ChiChi is right, Linkens vs Aghs is situational. I went with Aghs because it's >generally< better against a wider variety of spells, but the difference between the two in terms of stats is minimal.

Also, part 2 coming in about 30 minutes with Morph, Tiny, and a bunch of others.

Part Two

With those first five done, we're getting onto other heroes. There's no real reason I split them up, other than time.

6. Morphling

Items: Manta Style, Ethereal Blade, Eye of Skadi, Butterfly, Satanic, Bloodthorn
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel)
Talents: +8 Agility, +12% cooldown reduction, +25 movement speed, +400 Waveform range

Health: 1945
Mana: 1568
Armour: 44
Damage: 339 + 140
Attack Rate: 0.28

Effective Health (vs Physical): 10,686
Effective Health (vs Magical): 2,593

DPS: 3200
Since Morphling can shift around his stats, the DPS and EHP numbers are very fluid. This is (obviously) a full agi Morph - shifting him to 2500 Health, which is the general amount I'd recommend lategame, brings his EHP up a lot, and his DPS down by about 300. Shotgunning the target dummy leads to a loss in DPS, so this is just right clicks.

7. Luna

Items: Manta Style, Butterfly, Eye of Skadi, Satanic, Hurricane Pike, Bloodthorn
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, BKB)
Talents: +15 damage, +150 Health, +25 attack speed, +15 all stats

Health: 3875
Mana: 1920
Armour: 31
Damage: 241 + 193
Attack Rate: 0.37

Effective Health (vs Physical): 17,032
Effective Health (vs Magical): 5,166

DPS (single-target): 2,150
DPS (bouncing): 4,300 (over 2 targets)
Luna's hard to accurately gauge DPS for, given that most of her damage is split over multiple targets - but as you can see, Moon Glaive hits really ****ing hard.

8. Medusa

Items: Manta Style, Butterfly, Eye of Skadi, Hurricane Pike, Daedalus, Aghanim's Scepter
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel)
Talents: +12 Intelligence, +15% Evasion, +600 Mana, +25% Lifesteal

Health: 3000
Mana: 2871
Armour: 27
Damage: 223 + 90
Attack Rate: 0.39

Effective Health (vs Physical): 26,912
Effective Health (vs Magical): 8,743

DPS (single-target): 1,550
Unpopular opinion time; Medusa is incredibly overrated lategame. Why? Well, yeah, she's insanely tanky, but the damage is just not there. That is an 8 slotted Medusa doing an incredibly low amount of damage, with the two highest DPS items in the game equipped on her. Anyway, EHP calculations for Medusa are difficult - against Physical damage, her mana depletes before her Health, but against pure Magical, her Health empties at about half mana.
The formula for Physical was ((Mana x 2.5) + (Health/damage multiplier)) / (1-0.4475 - your evasion percentage).
The formula for Magical was ((Half Mana x 2.5) + Health) / 0.75.

9. Naga Siren

Items: Manta Style, Eye of Skadi, Butterfly, Daedalus, Octarine Core, Boots of Travel
(Moon Shard, Radiance)
Talents: +125 Health, +30 attack speed, +15 Agility, +1 Mirror Image illusion

Health: 3435
Mana: 2169
Armour: 30
Damage: 212 + 110
Attack Rate: 0.4

Effective Health (vs Physical): 14,679
Effective Health (vs Magical): 4,580

DPS: 3200
Something that surprised me when I first discovered it (a while ago), is that Naga does a lot of DPS. More on why in conclusions. There's nothing worth noting about these numbers, except they're kinda big.

10. Faceless Void

Items: Manta Style, Eye of Skadi, Butterfly, Daedalus, Mjollnir, Silver Edge
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, Refresher Orb)
Talents:

Health: 3185
Mana: 1436
Armour: 27 + 7
Damage: 227 + 164
Attack Rate: 0.32

Effective Health (vs Physical): 14,848
Effective Health (vs Magical): 4246

DPS: 2,450
Like Nahaz says, stats don't lie... well, except when Faceless Void is involved. These numbers are pretty cool, but it doesn't calculate the EHP he gains every time he uses Time Walk, or the teamfight impact of Chronosphere. But, even just these numbers make it understandable why people go on about Faceless Void being hardest carry EU.

11. Phantom Lancer

Items: Manta Style, Eye of Skadi, Butterfly, Daedalus, Diffusal Blade, Abyssal Blade
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel, Aghanim's Scepter)
Talents: +20 attack speed, +15% cooldown reduction, +15% evasion, +20 Strength

Health: 3355
Mana: 1634
Armour: 30
Damage: 245 + 120
Attack Rate: 0.39

Effective Health (vs Physical): 20,824
Effective Health (vs Magical): 4,473

DPS: 2,900
pleasebuffPLicefrogkthx
9-slotted Phantom Lancer is still pretty scary if the enemy team has no damage block. Don't let these numbers fool you, PL is still complete dog**** and needs some big **** buffs to be playable again outside of a dedicated Invoker counter.

12. Tiny

Items: Manta Style, Assault Cuirass, Butterfly, Satanic, Aghanim's Scepter, Daedalus
(Moon Shard, Boots of Travel)
Talents: +6 Strength, +40 movement speed, +25 attack speed, +20% cooldown reduction

Health: 3495
Mana: 1075
Armour: 13 + 21
Damage: 353 + 160
Attack Rate: 0.54

Effective Health (vs Physical): 16,293
Effective Health (vs Magical): 4,660

DPS: 2,600
Another hero in need of buffs - 8 slots give Tiny enough to cover his many massive weaknesses, and to finally start building him on his strengths. So he's quite good lategame, but you need so many items to become 'quite good'.

Part Three will arrive later :)

I see a lot of no boots builds, and honestly in a real game that's just not working. Heroes like Spectre, Luna or Chaos Knight are just going to get kited endlessly without that +100 MS. Realistically, only Anti-Mage and Tiny can afford a no boots build, AM because of blink/skadi and Tiny because he's at 385 MS even witout boots.

Also, Medusa maybe has terrible damage because you bought aghs on her? Aghs in a DPS calculation -> Elegiggle. It's not even a decent aghs. Sure, in a real game that slot is a BKB, but then you didn't buy BKB on anybody.

Medusa is only overrated lategame because a 6-slotted Dusa gets completely shut down by an OSfrog 3K gold item.

CK has a 3.4 second Reality Rift cooldown. He's the hero that LEAST needs boots.

Spectre, likewise, has dagger, haunt, abyssal, and skadi, who can also get away with it.

Heroes that have either exceptionally high movement speed, or an inbuilt mobility skill, can usually get away with it.

Still have 357 movement speed? CK's base movement speed is one of the best in the game, he doesn't have that problem.
