Is that something I can do myself or do I need to check it up? I think I'll get an ejectable cooler or whatever it is called, although it is quite pricey.

All you need is a screwdriver and the ability to know how to assemble back everything once you removed it. It's easier than it looks, hard only the first time because you're worried not to **** up (you gotta be real gentle, also, if you are cleaning the CPU cooler, you need some silicone paste to attach it back and isolate it - this is in case of PCs, not sure about laptops).
