b) I have noticed that alot of invokers moves are supportish moves buffs, disables, drains, escapes etc ( EMP, Tornado, Ghost Walk, Alacrity, ice wall), yet i definately find him to be a carry. Why is this?
c) Is it worth selling clean items i don't use so i can get other items?

a)No
b) Invoker has two build types. Quas/Wex and Quas/Exort. Q/W is mostly a heavy team fight build focusing on disables. Q/E is more of a pushing and dps build. Wex/Exort really isn't ran due to its inferiority to the other two builds.
I wouldn't really consider Invoker a carry. He's more of a jack of all trades. At most; he can be a semi carry. You probably think that due to not seeing a true carry in action yet. Especially if you yet to see a shotgun build Morphling in action.
c) If by items for your Invoker in match; then you are doing something wrong. You should always be building towards your next item on Invoker. No room for a random item pick up for him.
If you mean cosmetic items for heroes. then up to you.

I think by "supportish", you mean "Utility" and by "carry" you mean a "Core" (something that isn't a Support basically), there are lots of Cores who provide a lot of Ultility, e.g. Puck, Windranger, etc. packing lots of Utility doesn't make them any less viable as Cores...it just means their damage will usually fall off faster ._.

You should probably be starting with a Null Talisman and Tangoes/ Healing Salve. The Consumables will get used up eventually, but you can sell them if they're cluttering up space, and you shouldn't need to sell the Null Talisman until you have 5 other, more important Items, but this will only happen if the game goes very, very Late, even with a Hand of Midas.
Although, if you buy a Magic Stick, you can sell that as soon as you run out of Inventory space, same as the Talisman.

Well if someone has already picked Clinkz, but you wanted to be Clinkz, the Wex Exort build is for you!
EDIT: apparently I messed up the quote from ZeroSavior
lifestealer pick vs invoker basically turns him into a useless flying turtle that occasionally drops a coconut on lifestealer and does 3 damage. Lifestealer uses his Q and all your spells do nothing, so unless you do an iceiceice and go right click invoker with daedelus and ****
I think right now quas/wex isn't that great but for solo playing you kinda have to go quas exort because quas wex is only good if your team isn't a bunch of un-educated 10 year olds with no logic at all.
I doubt I did anything but make more questions in this comment, but hey, if I make questions I can answer them
