Hence why I said situationally on void, also overrated things in dota? I definitely (out of the choices) wouldn't put pudge in the overrated category, played a lot, yes, but there are a lot of Dendi fans. I think it should be put up there, Hand of Midas is definitely abused and overrated, I feel a lot of players just get it too get it, and don't realize reprocussions of getting it, saw an Anti-mage player grab one, for example, at 20min he haas treads, Midas, and yasha..2000+ gold that sholdve been put toward a battlefury.
Step 1: Pick Bristleback
Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick

Magic Wand...I'm actually gravitating more towards just a Magic Stick these days, +300 gold for a few extra charges and stats is not always a good deal, depends a lot on whether you went for several Iron Branches, and whether you're building a Mekansm or not. Also how much cash you've got coming in, and how much you're likely to be getting further down the line (i.e. will you be selling it at some point? Are you trying to rush bigger items?). However, very useful on mana dependent heroes with small pools like Wraith King, and obviously enemies who will be throwing charges out like candy ( Batrider, Zeus etc).

Mask of Madness has a bad rep for many reasons (many including Drow Ranger noobs), it's a pretty good item, but highly situational and on appropriate heroes. I quite like it on many permabash heroes as a cheap way of getting extra attack speed and lifesteal in one (obviously Helm of the Dominator gives better protection and an upgrade path), it's also great in particular situations:

- You're 1v1 with somebody who can't or doesn't want to fight back (you can kill them faster and probably outpace them too)

- The extra movement speed can actually be good as a defensive measure, e.g. you can see incoming gankers and are going to struggle to juke or outpace them before they reach you with stuns.

- You don't care so much about damage, e.g. Abaddon with ulti ready, tanks carrying Blademail etc

Yes, it's risky, but there's no rule that says you need to activate it during a teamfight unless you want to!

woot Oo? Hand of midas simply is a good item on almost anything if you manage to get it in time.
Your example of an antimage getting it after 20 minutes surely isnt the optimal way to use it but overall its a great item, not only because of the gold aspect but also of the exp-boost it provides.

It's situational, and greedy, good item, but way too abundant (thanks Speed Gaming). It's a fantastic item, for heroes like Alchemist it synergizes well with goblins greed, Invoker absolutely needs the levels to increase his spell power, Faceless Void, who can benefit from the boosted attack speed early on (proc more bashes), etc, lets not forget a lot of offlaners can prioritize it as a "comeback" item. It's just poorly timed, defaulted to on everything by some players, but the very latest id say is probably 1min

I'm not too sure you should always go Battle Fury on an Anti-Mage, after all, with a Hand of Midas you're investing 2050 Gold that has to be made back, but with a Battle Fury, you have to invest 4350. You can always make the Gold back with a Hand of Midas, but without easy access to the Jungle, that Battle Fury isn't going to be doing anything for you.

The main benefit of Hand of Midas on an Anti-Mage is that with his fast Farming Item out of the way, he's going to be getting faster levels, and a faster Manta Style, since he'll already have the 2050 Gold for Yasha by the time he would've gotten a Battle Fury.

Plus, these 2 Items combined give him 61 Attack Speed. With AM's lower than normal BAT, he can still Farm the Jungle fairly quickly, but be a lot more Aggressive with an early Maxed out Mana Break, meaning he doesn't have to hide in the Jungle until 25:00.

Like Hand of Midas, most Pub Players overestimate how useful a Battle Fury is. Since 6.79, you don't have time to afk Farm the Jungle in higher skilled matches, since there are plenty of Heroes who can punish your Team with fast Pushes.

In the end, Battle Fury is even more Situational than a Hand of Midas.
