Ursa, Zeus, Tusk, Windranger, Beastmaster
Enemy team:
Juggernaut, Viper, Slark, Drow Ranger, Queen of Pain
Hello,
Today i decided to try out Ursa because my friend told me i should. I was originally going to play Lycanthrope since i was more comfortable with him. My friend still managed to persuade me into picking Ursa. He said he was going to walk me through everything during my match. I got to admit, Ursa is a freaking beast and so much fun. I didn't know he was this easy to play with. The enemy was getting wrecked despite my team didn't speak english except for one guy. It was some European language that looked like russian but i know it was not russian. The characters did not match. Anyway, we dominated the other team with ease. I know they were gonna lose as long we kept the pressure because they had all squishy heroes. Although, they did managed to put up a good fight toward mid game, but i wasn't worried. I'm just walking around like a mad man picking one at a time when they are not team fighting. The lifesteal and attack power from Ursa is amazing. It wasn't long until i was fed and so was the rest of my team. After that it was smooth sailing into their ancient. I even dive into their fountain to get a few kills using the Cheese i got from roshan. It was kinda funny since i can take so much damage. I definitely want to play Ursa again when i have the chance. He is just so much fun and easy to learn. I had 6000 gold at the end of the game and didn't even need to use it except for buyback when i died by the fountain.
My final build was: (keep in mind that i didn't go all out with the items)
Phase Boots, Vladmir's Offering, Linken's Sphere, and Shadow Blade
my K/D/A:
6/3/8 (the deaths was just me screwing around)
Feel free to leave a comment or tips below. Also, from now on i will post a topic that you can talk about in each of my blog.
Topic: What was your first experience with Ursa like?
I did go for Vladmir's Offering first. It is really a must for Ursa. If you thought i went for Phase Boots first then i'm sorry.
Don't apologise, if you're Laning with Ursa then Phase Boots 1st is better, I just meant you had to get it as a 1st Core Item, i.e. after Boots, but before everything else
If you want to get into Roshan unseen, you can blink in from the dire side, or just buy a Smoke of Deceit for 100 gold.
^ This, you won't be going into the Rosh pit that often, so the small cost is better, if you're only need for Invisibility is to get into the Rosh Pit (remember, you don't get revealed by Sentry Wards while Smoked. It's also a good way to check there aren't any Heroes near the Rosh Pit when you go in.
BKB vs Linkens - that team could and should have caused you considerable problems with just a linkens - they have a lot of abilities that make them hard to pin down. BKB is nearly always preferable on Ursa, in any reasonably even matchup. You do a lot of damage, and take a lot of damage, you rely on your lifesteal to keep you in the fight. You need to be attacking all the time in team fights to stay alive, so if you're stunned or slowed so much you can't reach people, you have a problem.
Linken's Sphere keeps you safe until they pop it...which takes less than a second, Black King Bar keeps you safe from everything Queen of Pain (and more) can throw at you for 4 - 10 seconds

You really need the Vladmir's Offering 1st so that you can Solo Roshan, or go into the Jungle (especially if there are no Lanes free for you) so Shadow Blade is less effective by the time you get it, not to mention, it's a bad idea if you already have other Invis/ Shadow Blade builders on your Team.
@Xyrus
I did go for Vladmir's Offering first. It is really a must for Ursa. If you thought i went for Phase Boots first then i'm sorry. I should've list the items in the order i got them. I believe the order was Vladmir's Offering, Phase Boots, Shadow Blade and Linken's Sphere
The Shadow Blade was more effective than most people gave it credit for. I was able to walk into the Rosh pit without being detected by wards or other heroes. It gives me that extra movement speed to chase anyone down or run away when i need to. Also, i was able to gank more effectively with the Shadow Blade.
1) Walk past enemy observer wards to Roshan. (most people do not put up sentry until it's too late)
2) It has a stat increase where as Blink Dagger does not.
As for the Black King Bar and Linken's Sphere, i think it all comes down to what hero did the enemy picked. If they had more nukers, then i think the BKB would have been a better choice. Since they have mainly right clicking heroes, BKB was not necessary. The mana regen from Linken's Sphere was really nice to have when i'm switching in and out of the jungle. I didn't have to go to the fountain unless it was low health(low enough that lifesteal would not save me). So i say both items are good to have, but it comes down to the situation when choosing one over the other.
With Blink Dagger you have a quick way of getting up to your Targets, but then what? The closest thing to an Initiation Skill is Earthshock. Your Target can just Stun you, use an Escape Mechanism, etc.
Blink Dagger --> Black King Bar --> Earthshock --> Bye bye Crystal Maiden!
Okay, maybe it's too much commitment for a support...
Heart of Tarrasque is also a useful item (in fact it's rarely bad on anyone), ton of hitpoints and massive regen to keep you alive (or quickly back into the fight), plus the extra hit points stack with your ultimate for moar damage.

These days, I just build Yasha <}3
I don't like the Linken's Sphere tbh. It only works on Heroes that have some High Mobility/Escape Mechanism that allows them to duck out before anyone can throw the 2nd Disable at them. As a Tanky Hero, Ursa benefits from staying in the fight and using his immense Damage to Lifesteal back any Damage done to him. A Black King Bar works best for this.

Can't remember my first Ursa game, but it probably went something like "If he's a Jungler, why does he take so much Damage from Creeps?!!!" (ah yes...the days when I was a complete n00b...before I learnt to 5-stack and Lane Ursa) X{D
I recently played a game with Ursa (I don't like him very much, but he's not boring to play like PL or Drow) and got pretty good results with the standard Phase, Vlad's, Blink, BKB, Basher item progression (you might want to skip BKB if you're playing in low level pubs, since they always pick carries there); too bad the enemies managed to win because my friend Outworld Devourer fed against a mid Disruptor - I need to teach him how to play better.
