Inspired by Angelo's example I decided to have a go at recording a short vid and uploading it for your amusement/information!

It's a game I played earlier on tonight and turned out as quite a nice example. Vid is below - comments welcome, but please be kind - this is my first go! :)

Unfortunately I've only got the trial version of Bandicam and didn't realise it cut out after 10 minutes! Fortunately that was most of what I wanted to show you - the full game is here if you want to see the rest...

Safe vs Risky item choices

support  |  items
One of the most common things I see these days seem to be "min/max" type builds - players taking huge risks to go after big items as early as possible. This is no doubt an overhang from the pro scene where players will routinely be farming big items in record times...so if the pro's do it...then it must be a good idea, right?

Well, yes, and no. The pro's can do it for several reasons:

1) They're really good.
2) Their team are all really good too.
3) They have excellent team communication and co-ordination.
4) Their strategy and team are setup to make those choices work.

If any of these things fall down...well you can end up in big trouble. And in the average pub game, you'll frankly be lucky to get to even number 1 of that list, let alone the rest.

This is generally the biggest issue with carry players - going for really greedy builds like Hand of Midas AND Battle Fury in the hope of having some uninterrupted farming time. If it works, their GPM will be off the charts and the…

So, your team decided to pick an AFK jungler and you have only 1 support...there's a good reason almost every pro team always runs 2 supports...here's what you give up:

A trilane for your carry

This may or may not be an issue, depending how many heroes the opposition puts against your safe lane, and how good they are at looking after themselves. If you're running a hard carry like Spectre, especially against another dual lane, don't expect them to be getting epic farm though.

Mid Tangos

One support is unlikely to be able to get more than 1 set for regen, and will likely have to do without a Healing Salve. If they've got a relatively easy lane, they might be able to afford to give you 1 Tango. You might have to buy some yourself.

Detection and TPs to mid / offlane

A biggee. Each hero gets 625 starting gold, and 100 per minute income without last hits, assists or jungle creeps. That means our sole support likely has about 1700 gold in the first ten minutes without assists,…
