Whilst reading guides and threads on this site, I've seen the term "Mid-Game Carry" get thrown around quite a bit (mostly associated with heroes like Ember Spirit and Shadow Fiend). So what I want to know is what differentiates a Mid-Game carry from a semi-carry (a hero whose at it's best in the Mid-game)?

Thats just jargon.

Think of this in DBZ power counter:
Midgame carry: 8000 At the time mid game has begun.
Semi carry: 6000-7000.

Also, carries scale better with items while semi carries generally dont.
So your run-of-the mill Shadow Fiend wont fall that much late game, while Bloodseeker will.

You gotta concentrate on the characterstics:
CARRY
Semi-Carry.

The difference is implicit in the name.

Pretty much what Kyphoid said (OMG).

While both of these types of hero reach their peak in the midgame, semi-carries tend to fall off more without a heavy farm/xp advantage. Midgame carries tend to scale better in the late game, although not as much as a hard carry.

na he wasnt it was just really ****ing hard to get him there.

he didnt farm well he was easily countered he had no escape or evasion he lost to nukes and blinks.

i famred till basher then went ganking. then bkb into mjollnir into butterfly and daedalus then abyssal then either heart or satanic.

and even if people got him there they didnt play him right.

focus the supports till they were 20% hp then focus carries ... the supports would run away giving you ms and damage then you amp yourself so your doing some crazy damage ... it was like 200% on top of other bonuses ....

then you killed carries while bkb was up got all your hp back and tracked down the supports.

i went toe to toe with a six slotted wraith king as blut cyka 6 slotted and wrecked his ***. i even went toe to toe with a 6 slotted FV and nearly won but my bkb wore off and a cm trapped me :(

now he is a support ... nothing more :(

Its just his dependability on the team and overly fluctuating returns that made him a very unstable carry. Also,no way of reliable farming.
