I still hate Techies

Y'see, this is the bit I totally disagree with. I can see the principle of the thing, but the reality is quite different. Techies place mines in a set of "the best" places where they hope people will walk, the better ones will change those places slightly to be less predictable. That isn't chess, hell, it isn't even drafts - they're not making impressive strategic moves - they're putting stuff down in the most likely places, and hoping people walk there, or their team has the basic intelligence to draw the opposition onto them.

As for countering them in pub teams - that's a problem - it's very easy with a vaguely co-ordinated team, but trying to organise a team of random strangers who may not understand your language or have any interest in co-operation is difficult enough without deliberately throwing troll heroes into the mix.

I'd say the like of Pudge are "fun" heroes - they can be frustrating and destroy your team on occasions, but it's always entertaining for everyone involved - it takes some actual skill to do, and the opposition have a fair chance of dodging.

So sando, you are saying that "mines aren't honorable"?

The draft around techies wasn't so good. You need a lot of heroes with high mobility and play an elusive style of game where you focus on ganks. With your high mobility you let them chase you into some mines or scare them off with the risk of doing so. Like this techies becomes extremely powerful.

Honorable is irrelevent, I'd just go with lame.

CM is also pretty irrelevent, you can see how bad they were in the game Tim posted up. Co-ordinated teams aren't going to struggle with them too much.

Actually, Lycan is really easy to kite. Perhaps not early-game, but once force staves and ghost sceptres come out he's almost as kiteable as Lifestealer and doesn't do nearly as much hero damage.

But on topic, Techies are like that horrible little child next door who make you wonder whether the theory of human devolution has it right. Anybody who picks Techies immediately turns from 'maybe a nice guy' to an ******* in about 1:30 or a bit more if they're slow with mines. Techies create boring, long, unentertaining games and actually encourage rat dota.
