Agreed, you place Midnight Pulse as a deterrent, to make it harder for them to Initiate or to slow down a Push. That's why Aghs is popular on him, it's the only reliable way to chain a Midnight Pulse into a Black Hole.

Yeah have to say, it's very difficult to land a Midnight Pulse with Black Hole ( Aghanim's Scepter aside) unless you have oodles of setup done for you (say Reverse Polarity) - generally you don't risk it as you'll get horribly focused or they'll split quickly.

Occasionally you can lay it early and retreat, if the opposition are cocky/dumb enough to fight on it, BOOM in you go.

well, if you want to look cool abandon a couple of games to get into low prio, once there wait for 5 to group up mid as they always do, blink blink, bkb and put down Midnight Pulse and they will be like, bah just a purple dude we can kill him easy, then while the smart kids auto-attack Black Hole them, ez rampages.
