Hey, I am a new user here, and I am currently reading some guides and notice a few things that I do not fully understand. If someone can be kind enough as to answer them, I'm really grateful:
1) Freshness: I know that it means how "fresh" it is (when was it last updated/created) however, I do not understand how this system work and how is it supposed to be an obligation? Some guides, in my opinion doesn't need any further update, and some other doesn't need any update within the time period. I mean, it isn't quite fair to say that a guide is "stale" just because it isn't updated for 12 weeks. Most of the times, it is because the new patch hasn't yet come, and even if they do come it doesn't change anything about the hero drastically. A new user like me will think that it is a bad guide or something simply because the color is "red" rather than "green". How are they supposed to keep their guide "fresh"? Does changing, say, a text and saving it counts as updating? If it does, what is the point of the whole freshness system?
2) Scoring: When I hover my mouse on a guide title, I can read it states "score:xx". My question is: how is it counted? Who is the one who scores the guide? I mean, how are you supposed to even "score" a guide to start with? I have noticed equally "well-formatted" and "nice feedback" guides that have a lot of difference in scoring (around 70 compared to 90). Who is the one to judge the content if the users say that the guides are good?
3) Hot Guides: I have read some of the newest guides, and I find it odd that some of these guides have actually higher votes (and the same 5 bar) than the "hot guides" in the homepage, however are not put in the hot guides. Why is it? Is it related to freshness/scoring (these are all inside 30 days boundary)?
4) Denki 5 Boots Bara: I read Doctor D's guide to guide making as well, and I read about this one. Can someone explain how is it effective? Or is it just there for humor purpose? Please do enlighten me.

The community itself judges how good it is. If it's a good guide, it gets a lot of +1s, therefore leading to a higher rating. If it's bad, it gets a lot of -1s, leading to a bad score.
The other ones I don't know the answer to.
There's no earthy way of knowing which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing, or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining, is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing, so the danger must be growing. Are the fires of Hell a-glowing? Is the grisly Reaper mowing?! YES! The danger must be growing! For the rowers keep on rowing! And there's certainly not showing ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!
thanks for answering!
Yeah, I know how the +1 works. That is why I ask how come those who have good feedbacks from the community, have the same vote and 5 green bar have different scoring?

Even if the patch does not change the Hero in question significantly, it can change their matchup against others, e.g. say Hero "X" has shifted from a Support to a Mid, for a Mid Hero Guide, you have to consider a matchup against them, particularly if it happens a lot.
Also, some users will add videos of Pr0fessional games, which really need updating regularly, watchinga TI2 Replay is nice, but it won't teach you how to play in the current Meta.
Also, Hades watches the updates like Beatmaster's Hawk, ever vigilant and invisible. He can't attack you, but he can report you for Refreshing a guide wihtout adding anything new or relevant. 8{3

I would assume it's either because they haven't received as many votes in the past 30 days, or that the server hasn't updated which guides are "hot" or not. This is just a guess to be honest

It's humourous, no one builds more than 1 Pair of Boots except in rare cases where you have Phase Boots/ Power Treads and are upgrading to Travel Boots while you have a Free Slot, i.e. no need to sell the old Boots...yet.
Ah, I see. Thank you for answering my questions.
However, can anyone clear the question 2 and 3 for me? I still do not quite understand them, and if possible I would like a reliable answer (no offense for the guess, Xyrus).
Also, I think I accidentally press a +1 the second time in the same guide, does it affect the vote? If so, how do I cancel it?
Sorry, can't really help you here.
However, I'm pretty sure that the 3rd point (top guide, not hot) is based on the score, only having the highest score displayed.
I do not understand though how the score is calculated. My Bounty Hunter guide wasn't displayed in top guides because the score is 76% and the rest are higher, even if I do have more votes and same 5 green bars.
The 5 shoes are ineffective because the movement speed doesn't stack, but the active does (and sometimes having both Tranquil Boots and Phase Boots might be neat) Nonetheless, it's really never done in serious games.
So, yeah... That's all I can help you with. Probably you can get an admin to help you, try PM-ing Hades4u, AlanLeFleur or Mowen
