I once read that a good starting item set should be as efficient as possible and can possibly use all item slot available. That's why a Tango + Healing Salve + 3 Iron Branch + (anything else needed) is effective. But then i saw Broodmother build everywhere suggests starting Tango + Ring of Basilius, wasting the 4 slots.

Is this Basilius start really better than, say, Tango + Healing Salve + 3 Iron Branch + Ring of Protection? While Broodmother has regen in web so she can use less regen item, i still think an early stat (branches) is better than Basilius.

If your enemy get's true vision, you'll die easily. Getting stats and purchasing the Ring of Basilius later is safer.

I agree with this... I suggest getting a Null Talisman . it is cheaper and you can build Dagon out of it.

I don't even get basi until I start really pushing, after lvl 4 spiders and soul ring, just for armor. I like getting soul as first item (before boots even) for hard harass. If you are not solo laning it might even be good to Jung a camp or two with spiders as tank as they can't push yet anyway and the enemy can't tell when you are missing. (You obviously are not ganking and most people wont even think to check their own Jung (this is assuming offline brood.(parethiception)))

Also jungling the small camp before they pull can be quite hilarious. If you are lucky they stacked it for you. XD
