So I haven't been able to put anytime into Legion Commander as of yet but I was on the recieving end of one in a Single Draft I did the other day. As a guy who was never able to play the original Dota and run with Legion Commander I'm simply speaking from what I experienced in Dota 2. Overwhelming odds is a really interesting ability in my opinion and the extra movement speed from the number of units hit sounds sort of like Elder Titan's Astral Spirit (without the Auto-Attack Damage buff). Press The Attack is an incredible support ability because removing Stuns, Silences and Hexes can turn a teamfight around very fast. When I was using a Lion vs. a Legion Commander she would basically counter me outright in a teamfight. Her teammates are impaled? Press the Attack. I Hex their Spirit Breaker? Press the Attack. It got super annoying after a while. Her passive ability to me seems massively overpowered however. 22% to do 80% lifesteal after an autoattack? I don't know about your opinion but I think that might need a debuff soon. Her ultimate duel is a good ability for Legion commander with the combination of her passive and the correct stat item setup. So what is your guy's opinions on the new hero. I would really like to know the opinion of people who have played her already. If I am wrong about any of the above information please let me know

I'm not that impressed with her.

Duel is a cool concept, but to me she seems like she wants to be a ganky support/semi-carry, but she has no slows or stuns, and no good nukes.

If paired with another hero who can bring the immobilisation and damage she can probably snowball hard, but if she gets off to a bad start I don't see her having much effect later on.

She's in the same elite group as Pudge and Silencer in that she has a theoreticly infinite damage cap, but she seems to come online too late to really be useful.

tl;dr: Cool concept, underwhelming performance, nice to see a fully-armoured girl for once, and her line when meeting Queen of Pain is funny ("You came to a battle wearing *that*?").

Duel is actually good for an entirely different reason then winning and etting damage. You can hold a very important hero in place for so damn long, it just destroys heroes who have to cast spells or rely on their mobility in fights. So initiating and locking down an anti mage, magnus, or even bane or witch doctor just screws up their teamfight.

Think of it as a beastmaster roar.

Yeah, or a Fiend's Grip.

She's actually fairly powerful in an aggressive trilane when paired against another trilane because of Overwhelming Odds.

I think the items she has to get are really awkward though. I don't really like Armlet of Mordiggian because her lifesteal is strong but is still chance based (and I'm known to be the unluckiest person my dota friends know) and it could put you at a disadvantage at times. Though I suppose Press the Attack is enough to compensate for the HP loss.

I tend to do a midas-treads or phase-Drums and go straight BKB.

Any opinions on the best build for her guys?

I think you can easily get armlet, you also have your debuff/heal so that should be fine.

In general, I think Legion Commander is one of the best snowball Heroes: if dueling the right people the damage increase becomes a lot. I think that focusing on a ganking-oriented build (especially because jungling is pretty easy with her, unless you find Centaurs in both the medium camps) is better because giving her the safe lane would be a waste, and she can't contribute much in the hard lane even with a support assisting her (much like an Axe without the DoT spell). Mid is a good choice though, ganks with her are fairly easy and being able to get a Bottle is really nice.

The best builds for her are, in my opinion:

Ganking oriented: Phase Boots - Blade Mail - Blink Dagger
This focuses on quickly killing an enemy Hero. The whole cost of the combo (including the actives of the BM and Blink) costs a bit less than 300 mana (or 400 when using Overwhelming Odds) so you should never spam your skills too much. The Blade Mail ensures the enemy won't survive against you and the Blink Dagger is just too good. Activate everything BEFORE blinking and dueling.

(Semi) Carry oriented: Phase Boots - Drum of Endurance - BM/SB/Armlet (optional) - Black King Bar
This is a more balanced build that combines the most cost-efficient items that any STR carry can get ( Chaos Knight anyone? Lifestealer and Skeleton King use them, too): I haven't tried the Armlet yet, but I can say the Drum of Endurance gives enough mana to let you use the active from either the Blade Mail or the Shadow Blade; BKB is mandatory since you'll be entering the fight with Overwhelming Odds and kind of initiate with your Duel. Oh, Midas is also nice if you can get it quickly.

For the skill build, maxing out Overwhelming Odds by level 7 (or 8 if you're jungling) is mandatory, then I think getting full levels on Press the Attack is better (especially if you have a harder carry in your team); when jungling you 100% need a second level of Moment of Courage at level 3, but you can leave it at 2 until level 13.

We took her as a mid to focus on pressure to give our alch space to farm, threw an ogre in for bloodlust and she went 20-2. No blademail in that build basically just max attack speed. Also screwed around with her and dazzle. Shallow grave in a challenge and heals.
She's a good hero, not anything super special but fun, and can make a quick living off of killing supports, get her items than murder harder hitters. Even the odds is pretty dirty IMO in lane, the boost alone is great.
Step 1: Pick Bristleback
Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick

okay before anything let me say im new a new member and ive been playing dota 2 for about 6 months now so if i seem noob dont hate im still learning (shout out to WAYTOSEXY=) as a great coach ) and I know this is long reply but ive played her since she came out and I feel I have a good idea on how to play her (not the best mind you just in general) ...

my take on her is as a semi-carry tank, (dont judge) as with her ulti she gains damage and the ability to lock down main threats in team fights and with her passive and press the attack she gains survivability and the more people attacking her the greater chance she has to survive initation , deal her damage and duel the main threat. Plus with overwhelming odds she gets a semi escape/chase mechanism (only if used well)(yes i know blink or shadow blade are better but that how i see overwhelming odds).

my build on Tres as noob as it sounds is to rush armlet then phase boots then bkb with a hyperstone thrown in at 30 mins if u get ur farm and pull off successful ganks , even with only your armlet and press the attack by level 7-8 i can solo take towers, wade into team fights and disable the main threat for 4-5 secs allowing the rest of my team to mop up(excepting serious level and item discrepancy). Pop press the attack, activate armlet and bkb then wade in.

as with all new hero's i usually spend a day or two just in bot matches to get a feel for strengths and weaknesses and ive found that with Tres, it pays to stay in a fight also it pays to attack in a creep wave which goes against a lot of what i know of dota. once i took this mentality into pubs the results were great 132-198 bonus damage by 30 mins in 3 consecutive games and even though my kda ratio was off (4-6-21 for example) in some of those games, the duels were almost always won. For example , 3 points in courage and 2 points in press the attack, got caught out of position in a creep wave by mid hero and by enemy lane heroes, my support KOTL mana drained pudge (mid hero) then ran for it and with most hero’s that’s exactly what you would do, try to escape.

But with Tres remembering what I learned from bot matches I stuck it out popped my press the attack and started attacking axe (enemy lane hero). Because I was getting creep aggro and hero aggro my moment proc’d almost immediately that its cd was up plus the regen and attack speed from press. I killed axe, switched to pudge and killed him then was finally killed by lions impale. now I know if pudge and lion had more mana I would have been killed easily but this was just an example of how sticking it out can be of more help then running, I killed mid allowing my mid to get un harassed farm for 20 -30 seconds and gained levels and gold in doing so naturally won the game around the 38 min mark.

i completely agree with the above comments blink and blade mail is defiantly justified in most pub matchs since team sync and communication is low and it allows you to solo out of position heroes but ive found that greater positioning in lane as well as better sync with team mates on ganks allows for that money to be better spent on items to survive team fights and gain greater dps.

My skill build is w-e-w-e-q-r-w-e then just put points in what is needed, adjust to the game so to speak.

Sorry for the long response and wall of text... first time posting :P…

Also pet peeve in playing Tres…. PEOPLE YOU CAN ATTACK THE ENEMY I AM DUELING !!!!!

Had a moment in game where 4-1 gank happened and I started duel and all 3 of my team mates stood round doing nothing haha…

Anyway cheers hope this helps.

also "press the attack" as a debuff, hp regen and attack speed increase is definatly op, this is the skill i most expect to get nerfed before "moment of courage".

They got nerfed once in DotA.I don't think he will again. Also, yes, the duel is extremly useful but not as lockdown. It's a powerful zoning tool.
