Supports stay alive through good positioning and map awareness, not equipment.

I wanted to correct myself by pointing out that both dark seer and wind runner are the only escape supports...

Anyways, despite my point that heroes who don't have any real great method of staying alive, like pugna or wind runner ( I think wind runner's speed skill actually casts faster on herself because she can only cast on herself as opposed to dark seer) All dark seer has is his delay self casting speed skill and high starting armor.... but he is melee.....

It makes a lot of sense why vanguard is the suggested item on dark seer, and I'll stick with the suggestions that the game has made... they work....

And in theory and reasoning, they make sense...

The thought process is as follows.

-Does your support hero have a good skill to keep him alive?

Dark seer? No, because self casted surge is quite delayed...

-Is your support hero melee or missile? What is his base run walk?

If your hero is melee, average speed, and has no real method of tanking damage, then he, in all probability, is a prime candidate for vanguard.

Stop the denial.

Tranquil Boots + Bracer + Magic Wand is enough tank and regen for a support.

Sure it makes sense to get hood along side a basic shield, and to get the primary support items like pipe and mekanism, but there is nothing wrong with finishing shield to a vanguard immediately after if your hero doesn't have any skill that helps to tank or stay alive.

I feel like all I do is play Juggernaut anymore....

Start with wand, shield, Hood of Defiance, and soul ring...

Then just use soul ring to farm with Q....

Survive with out dying, I'm not trying to be aggressive so why do I need boots right away? maybe basic boots at most....

If you max out Q and E, and make it to a maxed out W with out dying, then what value are you to your team?

Fricken juggernaut is carry support.

The best support IMO

Urn, drums, and mek all help provide survivability and support. I usually Get 2 of the 3 and then go from there. Building agh’s scepter offers survivability even if it may seem like a greedy purchase for a support. Kind of depends how important your ult is in a team fight.
