Actually, BB has a pretty huge mana pool, especially for a STR hero.

Though basically no one can counter OD in mid anyway, aside the unconventional Sniper, Lone Druid and dual mid, all of which are extremely awkward.

huskar and razor manage to do well against him

Razor kind of counters OD mid these days.
I believe Unstable Current only works on targeted spells? Meaning that he can't counter Bristleback either. :P

I'll try him some time, sounds like a fun mid hero.

Edit : Well, with snot, he can partially counter his harass actually.

lol, completely forgot about razor and husk.

Does going mid justify an extra level of Viscous Nasal Goo early on? To put a bit of emphasis on ganking.

I think you should get an early level in it just for utility and stacking, so yes? I guess you should, but I don't play bb :p

1 level is all you need.
more is good later on but those stacks of quill spray early make a huge difference
I haven't had any issues getting early ganks both on my lane and on others. With Bristleback I am able to dive under towers early game for those kills.

Yeah, didn't think of OD. BB has an average mana pool but really really cheap spells. OD would be an interesting match up but it still favours OD. I hate OD. So freaking much.

Actually tired bb mid and this is the result

I think he is viable mid now that I see. He is capable of dominating the mid game and the extra levels+gold do help, but you have to be ganking and not giving the enemy team a great time :p

He's fun and it looks like you did real well that game. Go the Divine

Yeah, leaving him mid for too long is a killer. You need to try and pickup the first kill on mid (even if a support rotates in) then start rotating into other lanes for kills.
