I recently noticed how powerful most of the remaining heroes were.

Phoenix has a free aegis, and a powerful nuking support and is fairly tanky (2.9 STR gain) without of course, considering him losing HP.

Legion commander (by level 16) can get a free Demon Edge with 3 ults. His/her snowball potential is unbelievably high.

Earth spirit is... really powerful, from what I hear. He does seem quite powerful from looking at his skills, but I haven't seen him in action so I can't conclude.

Pit lord has an ult that can transfer your team pretty much everywhere. An Io ult for 5 people, and his aura is a great anti carry tool.

Ember spirit (despite having really low stat gain) has a powerful son, a barrier against magic damage, an evolved version of blink dagger (haven't used his ult that much though, not sure how good it is) and a VERY powerful W. It's basically a different version of Omnislash.

Soul keeper can turn a 1v1 fight around and has good carrying potential.

Arc warden is the next level of 2 heroes in 1. It's practically a 6v5, and when he snowballs, 2 heroes do so at once.

Techies, 'nuff said. One of the best pub stompers you can get, and is arguably one of the most unique and powerful heroes in history.

Oracle. His ult is a 9 second Shallow Grave that negates damage for that period and an invisibility that can't be broken by attacks.

Winter wyvern is a great babysitter and his ult works really well against most kind of teams.

So which is it for you guys?

I've never played the original WC3 dota so don't know these heroes apart from what I've read about them.

The one I'm most worried about is Techies - it could just turn whole swathes of otherwise fun games into an annoying explosion-fest.

The one I'm most looking forward to is Pit Lord, been looking forward to trying him out for ages.

So which is it for you guys?

Phoenix: It is not a free aegis. Against any good player you would be dead in the 1st 2 seconds
Abyssal Underlord: It has a very long cooldown and can only tp to stuff that you can tp via bots.
Techies: Easily countered by early on set warding and gem.
Oracle: Damage is not NEGATED, it is DELAYED.
Winter Wyvern: Requires enemies in melee range of target.

Felt pretty sure Techies is good in pub picks. Because wards and dust aren't so common. You can blow a couple of people up before they realize what's happening.

2nd is possibly the Soul Keeper. His ulti doesn't need mana when level 3 and his Metamorphosis damage is just purely gay.

Hades is right, definitely soulkeeper - aside from Pitlord, I don't think there is anyone who will greatly affect the Meta. Pitlord is a very strong support hero, soulkeeper is a very strong carry.

The new heroes in D1 that were added after d2 was release I know NOTHING about.. so can't comment on their strengths/impact. But would definitely say Soulkeeper..

I'm going to have to say Terrorblade on the list, he's disgusting, once he's gotten his items up, he's a machine, and not just 1 v 1 but most situations favor him with his ulti and transformation, his illusion, and his slow(and illusion it creates on target), if the players good than Terrorblade is a nightmare to play against
Step 1: Pick Bristleback
Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick

Anyone else remember Phoenix when if first came out? It was a nightmare of a week with that move-as-you-kill sun ray ****.

Anyway, Phoenix, Pitlord, and Terrorblade (and Techies) are all due for a remake of some sorts because they are the only "old" heroes left unported. Icefrog just seems to be unable to find a role for these heroes. As for Techies, 6/8/unlimited minute mines + 3 minute spectator lag is a serious problem, so something needs to be done about that.

Icefrog has had issues balancing Terrorblade in the past hasn't he? I could see him possibly reworking his ultimate, or changing it entirely.
