Best of role

I wanted to know if there is a tier list or any of you guys can tell me who are the best suppors, carries ect. only the top 3 or so from each role :P

Well, there is not really a "best in role" hero in DotA in my opinion. All heroes have their strengths and weaknesses, its just that some heroes are not picked in the current meta (which is based on early pushes) because their weaknesses outweigh their strengths in this situation.

Still, best in carry role = Faceless Void and Phantom Lancer, no doubt about it.

Just search for a tier list based on the month. The ones that objectively base the list only from the amount of usage in pro matches are the most reliable.

Still, there is no best. Dota 2 is really really situational, and nothing is ever completely core.

(except Io, of course)

EDIT: just so you don't get any wrong ideas, I'm only basing this on Io getting banned/picked almost every single game in competitive matches.

Before everyone starts to talk about just this I want to clear it out. I know there are no BEST heroes, but there are definitively heroes that are BETTER than most other heroes in the same role, and I just wanted to know if there is an official one and you guys opinions :P

Well, there's nothing official, really - but some heroes are better than others, because there is no game that is perfectly balanced.

For instance, the best mid heroes are Puck, Queen of Pain and Batrider right now when considering them as a hero in general. As a carry, Dragon Knight is gaining popularity and Lone Druid along with Lifestealer are really good as usual.

As for me top carry is Faceless Void - he is easily counterable by long range stuns and Blinding Light, but in connection with initiator like Naga Siren, Magnus (!) or Enigma he can easily wipe whole team.

Another example can be Phantom Assassin, but she don't have such strong ultimate as FV.

There are so many variables to consider when trying to decide who's best. For example what period of the game is it? Void is weak until he gets life steal and a decent damage item. How much gold does the carry have? Void with gold is fantastic and goes through most of the enemy team in seconds but then with enough gold almost anyone can including supports and other non carrys. I think versatility should also he considered, can the carry only be built one way and still be effective? Are they reliant on certain items? How reliant are they on their team mates for initiation?

There's almost too many things to consider.

So perhaps narrowing the question would help. Like who has the highest DPS, the best escape, the best disable, the highest capability to take damage, etc, etc. You could then compare which heroes score highest on all those different variables and find the best average.

I'm not sure that if you compare a fed void to an equally fed phantom lancer that you would have void coming out on top more times than PL.

Actually, Spectre just beats the **** out of everyone late game.(might not kill void though,but the rest just crumble).
