Well the standard build is Tranquils into Blink Dagger then Force Staff. Anything else is up to you since his build after that is pretty diverse.

As above, although you'll often want to pick up a Bottle along the way too, and I like Urn of Shadows on him a lot too, as you'll be seeing plenty of action. Still, you really need at least a Blink Dagger asap so you can initiate.

Skillswise, it's a bit unclear what the optimum build is at the moment. Many people skill Firefly first for contesting runes and escape. 2nd point should really be in Stick Napalm for last hitting/harassment, and after that it gets kinda "flexible", except that you always want your ulty. I'd also recommend strongly at least 1 point in Flamebreak as it can often secure kills, break up team fights and let you grab somebody without necessarily having your blink yet.

One of the major things playing bat is to set your "aggression-o-meter" to the right setting. You have to make things happen to be effective, but you also have to be careful not to be outright stupid. Oh, and haste runes are your best friend :).

If you mid you want to go like 1-1-1, with Sticky Napalm at level one, then maxing Firefly.

Off lane, you probably just want to focus on Firefly and Sticky Napalm.

Batrider is a hero you really need to know your limits for, because despite the fact you don't ostensible have much damage or control, you are actually one of the highest kill potential laners in the game. If you get like 3 or 4 Sticky Napalm stacks on an enemy hero, they are probably just dead. Thus you should be able to crush any Melee hero in terms of CS and kills, and break even with most ranged.

You really have to know your limits on the hero; Especially since you've got stuff like a vision disadvantage compared to most heroes. It's part of the reason he's underwhelming in pubs.

Try and learn the best jungle patterns, you can probably farm two stacks per usage of Firefly if you want to on either side. Maybe a little bit longer now with the stack nerf.

In essence, good luck; He's not an easy hero to make work in pubs because he relies on his allies to assist him, and to co-ordinate with him.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

No mention of the laning Batrider build? Max Sticky Napalm first, Flamebreak second, and leave Firefly at one value point. Spam napalm in lane for zoning and trading hits with supports, and if they stay near throw a 1000+ damage nuke at them that pushes them close to you and firefly them down. And do not go to the jungle, ever, get dagger from the lane.

Also I think Veil of Discord can be a great item on Bat after blink. 18 INT, 'nuff said.

Maybe stop with the AFK jungling nerfrider and use the new laning / pre-blink killing possiblities of the hero? :)

Actually Bat can be really good in pubs. Pubs don't know how to initiate teamfights properly so if you do it for them it's a huge asset. And, well, he can snowball without help really, his burst damage is insane.
