There's literally only 2 outcomes when you play Antimage:

Outcome number one:

I pick antimage and go safelane. The enemy offlane is huskar undying duo lane. One of my supports has gone top the other is jungling on bane. I resign myself to pulling the small camp, but then I hear it. I am ruptured, bloodseeker is already level 6 and ganking from mid. As I die the last thing I see is "report am **** carry feeder" from 0/5 shadowfiend.


Outcome number two:

I go safelane. I farm. The offlaner tries to contest but I am too good. I blink on him. I trade. I back off. We both salve up. He's got no mana. I've won the lane, like always. I am Anti-mage. Nothing matters more than farm. I control the lane. I'm farming so close to my tower that I'm impossible to gank. I can not die. I will never die.


16 minutes. Battlefury, Power treads, Poor mans shield, Vladmir's Offering. I've already won. Nothing can stop me now but myself. I am fearless. I push out lanes. I take towers. I force rotations. I am Anti-mage. Thousands of calculations going on in my head. I keep track of glyph, five individual teleport scroll cooldowns, how much each enemy is farming and when they will have specific items, relative position of both couriers etc. I can not lose now. Manta, Heart, Butterfly, Abyssal. I've not finished farming.


"****ing AM picker, no skill" The flame only fuels me. "Wow, nice work AM you took racks" I don't need your praise peasant. I'm ****ing Anti-mage. The rest of the my 'team' is irrelevant. They only get in the way of my goal. The enemy ancient.
Moonshard, Boots of Travel 2. I buy the wards, the gems are on me. I take the throne. I've won the game. 900GPM. Pathetic, I could do better. I'm not trying hard enough. I've failed.
"Match found". I pick Anti-mage. I am Anti-mage.

Legion Commander really stands out here IMO.

First, sorry for the double post.

Second, i hate it when people dont buy silver edge or a blink on void when facing mobile heroes.
It works wonders for him and will almost always result in a dead anti-mage, that was trying to push lane seeing no enemies in lane.

Point is: Anti-Mage is so hit and miss that he's deemed as balanced in the pro scene. Because in the pro scene, the 2 safelane cores are allowed to trade farm, they fight greed with greed, they don't try to shutdown people. They focus much more on the mid core, with constant ganking (at least the team that Anti-Mage is on). Why? Because the enemy mid core is the one that will be able to shut down the AM.


AM lost bot to the offlaner? NP, their Storm is in even worse shape, goodluck getting that orchid anyime soon before my AM gets manta. What people don't realise is that AM is so converse that after a few levels of babysitting, usually level 3, you can get a second point of mana break and just trade with the offlaner to establish lane dominance.


Do you want to farm? You can still do that even with 1 extra point of mana break. No need to go 1-1-1 stats. Of course you'll still end up maxing blink by the time you get your Battle Fury, so it'll most likely be your first maxed skill.

Get disables/death ball lineup, and try not to pick Storm.

Just try to group up as soon as possible and push. Picking the right heroes against him is one thing, but if your team is pretty passive - you'd end up dragging the game and he'd eventually find the space to farm.
