So I was testing Medusa, since I wanted to check all the changes to heroes made in patch 6.85...
And does this actually deal 417~ (after reductions?)
It seems a little crazy to me, it does more damage than basically 2 Powershots, does more damage than Purification, and has 10x the reliability of landing it. It seems like an auto lane win imo. It half hp's anybody you are laning against, and I can see this being even more hell if you have 2 heroes in the lane against Medusa. And she doesn't even lose any mana from spamming it, so it's kinda crazy. Before the patch it did 337 damage I think, but it basically got a 100 damage upgrade since then, and it steals like 170 mana on the last bounce too.
Did I do the maths wrong? or is this actually legit.
Yeah, your figures are right by the wiki, so that's the right situation.
She's been a solid laner for ages, like she easily has the best laning stage of any traditional hard carry, because she can actually win a lot of mid lane match-ups pretty decisively.
She's still super weak in the early levels in lane, like pre 5. Post 5 I think she's fantastic and will basically shift most match-ups in her favour. But she has no real solo kill potential (Unless the enemy offlaner actually just ****s up).
You usually don't get the 413 damage it's worth saying; You get like 2-3 bounces in total with the enemy laner being the last I'd say which is still pretty good given how low cost the harass is. So it's not always certain.
Yes, math is right. Medusa is in the top tier of carries in terms of laning stage (not just of hard carries). Yes, she autowins her lane unless she's matched up against an extremely good trilane with high kill potential (and even then she can win the lane with good snake bounces, and she still has shield).
...Which she already did before this. So the buff doesn't change that much about her. The buff adds about 100 damage to the last bounce which is nice but nowhere close to the big changes of the patch. Actually the biggest buff is about the mana part of the skill. Mana draining and sustaining mana is very important to her in lane (if you hit the ranged creep and one hero with it you get more mana from the snake than you paid for it, that's really good)
She's a pretty solid pub carry because she'll always get her farm in the safe lane even if she's laning with scrub supports. Additionally snake is extremely strong for dealing with those dual lanes that you see a lot these days ( Undying I'm looking at you).
Balanced, of course, by the fact that she needs manta/skadi/bfly/bkb before being of any use besides being a snake spamming machine that can only farm and counterpush...and her massive weakness to split push.
(BTW her counterpush also got buffed. Maybe that's actually the best part)
