Late-Game dominance is usually associated with hard carries like Spectre, Medusa and Faceless Void. However, just because you're not a hard carry doesn't mean you can't make your presence felt in the late game. So, for this topic of discussion, who is the best late-game hero that isn't a hard carry? Now... make your case!

Heroes with powerful utility spells that also pierce magic immunity is really good, like Magnus. Empower also increase a carry's damage output by a huuuge amount.

Supports with strong disables are good at all stages of the game, like Lion, especially when armed with a Blink Dagger

Heroes that punishes the enemy for a misplay, for example Necrophos, who is an absolute pain to play against and a good ulti on a carry means he is down for 100 seconds and no buyback.

Snowballers can still put up a lot of damage if they went too big, like Slark for example.

Hero buffers are also strong in the late game, Oracle is one of the if not the best.

Global presence and mobility is also appreciated in any stages of the game. Examples are Io, Nature's Prophet, and azgalor

don't quite understand... hard carries usually rule the lategame with no competitors. other than snowballing carries, most of of which are hard carries themselves, no other heroes can match the hard carries except for the counters of that specific carry.

Do you mean which heroes don't fall off hard in the lategame? If the case then supports like warlock are very good, visage is a strong lategame support, centaur never falls off after he gets his ulti, especially if he gets aghs, disruptor with a well timed aghs ulti is always useful in every part of the game, a good earth spirit can wreck teams in teamfights until the enemy has bkb, earthshaker fissure still helps in blocking, oracle and dazzle are very good at prolonging the carry's lives, and dazzle helps in lategame rightclick battles as a bonus. shadow demon is a very potent support that can help destroy enemy heroes in ganks, rubrick is always useful, and a well timed winter wyvern ulti can destroy enemy supports immediately.

Tinker.

just the prospect of perma hex/ abbysal makes the hardest of carries writhe in fear.

edit: also, you decide to push one lane, 2 of yours get pushed instead

Oh boy, this'll be fun. There's a handful of heroes that are worth a discussion:

Top Nominations:
A. Necrophos - This guy has a scaling aura and scaling nuke, is the only hero who can bypass and break buyback, one of the most important elements of late game, and turns one teamfight victory into 2 with his Scythe, due to the time to make another play. Get Aghs Refresher, and victory against him late is almost impossible if you don't kill him first.

B. Magnus - Can grant a scaling cleave and damage boost to his carry, and is equipped with a black-hole esque disable, minus the damage, channeling, and at half the cooldown (most important part). Pair him with some AOE spells or a melee or high stated carry and watch all late game fights won.

C. Doom - He can amass enough gold as Position 3 to be like ~85% of your Position 1, and a Silence-Mute-Break-Pure Damage DoT that lasts 16+ seconds is just insanely strong late game, especially with Refresher. Once late, he's also the aura-man, and can carry enough to make normal creeps beat supercreeps.

Other Nominations that are worth a look:

Omniknight - Global Physical Immunity is no joke, especially when it comes down to base racing. The magic shield is also very powerful. His skills are purgable, but purge sticks are limited, and you can't purge everyone. Requires a lot of coordination to beat him late game.

Wraith King - Not for his carry powers, but for his two strongest passives. Vampiric Aura makes any right clicker pretty much immortal, especially if they have some lifesteal of their own. Reincarnation's slow is also teamfight winning at all phases of the game. His aghs is also very powerful for stalemating lost fights.

Vengeful Spirit - Scaling damage aura, scouting skill, and misplacing certain heroes in late game fights in order to force the enemies into an unfavorable trade (hello negative Vengeance aura) can be quite powerful.

Oracle - False Promise is god mode late game. It breaks initiations and for dpsers, its a BKB mixed with shallow grave and the double hp healing is also super synergistic with lifesteal.
Low cooldown undispelable disarm that amplified physical damage by 50% is really big too.

Winter Wyvern - All her abilities scale by percentages. Arctic Burn, Cold Embrace, Winter's Curse. Winter's Curse is especially good as a long ranged BKB piercing disable that turns the enemy's own composition against them and is in many ways a more late game orientated Primal Roar.

Elder Titan - Natural Order is the strongest late game aura, it will make your carry beat their carry pretty much all the time. Also has the only BKB piercing Disarm in his Aghs.

Dark Seer - Vacuum is a combo starter, and Wall of Replica scales with Enemy Damage, able to produce massively powerful illusions. Surge is still powerful late too for enemy cleanup.

Tinker - Global mobility, refreshed spells, perma sheep, perma lag aka perma shivas, Dagon galore. As soon as Carry BKB is down, there is no chance of dealing with him in many cases unless you get the drop on him. Arguable whether or not he's a hard carry.

Warlock - Fatal Bonds is some ********. Undispelable, and fully stacks with itself. So once he gets Refresher, he can double bond you (then double golem you), and it is impossible to outdps his team in late game (or even midgame really...) teamfights.

Techies - Seriously, he's really strong late. Breaking high ground is quite tough unless you have certain picks, and running into a 4 second stun can be massive. Additionally, he has a 700 range AOE level 2 Laguna Blade on a 10 sec cooldown. Throw that at the enemy's backline, and you have a recipe for team winning.

Nyx Assassin - Because **** you Leshrac, OD, and Silencer.

Alchemist - Aghs for everyone!! Tiny and Meepo now the hardest carries in the game.

Honestly, I'm not that afraid of hard carries if their other heroes can't really back them up, my carry Dragon Knight with the Magnus, KotL and Shadow Demon support beats their Void with QoP, Bane, and Lion support very often.

Well, Nature's Prophet could be itemized to join in fights.

Some time ago I build a semi carry prophet. He is squishy, but he can still fight with the right items. I even got an ultra kill too.

If you managed to win the fight, at late game, it is likely that one of your lane is pushed near to the enemy base.

TP there, rat, win game.

Besides just existing in the game already bring fear to the enemy of throne ratting, especially in the late game.

thats what i meant!... lol he doesnt fight

any team fight which goes longer then a minute is enough time for a prophet to completely wreck your base. thats why he is such a scary late game hero because by 50 minutes he has necro three aghs octarine core deso daedalus BoT's ... its over if he is allowed near your base.

I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL.... WITH FLUFFY BUNNIES
