I think that good, if not the best philosophical questions in a game like dota would be the following
-What are the offensive forms of life?
-What are the defensive forms of mana?
-What are the defensive and offensive forms of evasion and attack speed?
In dota's case we would say armor and attack speed because the concept of evasion relating to agility seems to be becoming outdated as also seen in diablo 3.
I am always concerned about the odd man out in the holy trinity, in starcraft it was the zerg race.
In dota, it would be the intelligence heroes I suppose, but more specifically how mana does not relate to anything defensive in a concrete way, only exception being a hero like medussa who has mana shield but isn't even an intelligence hero.
But what should be the defensive form of mana? I think blademail could and should represent the unique defensive form of intellectual mana.
lo and behold, what component do we find in blademail? Robe. A component of intelligence to represent the theme of mana used in a defensive fashion, but still 100% offensive as an intellect mana use should be.
The real issue comes down to how the item can't be used in a concrete manner with intelligence heroes, but it still applies to all heroes.
Axe though, for example, doesn't need long durations of blademail because of taunt, so the issue matters the least for him as it should though because he is a strength hero.
Intelligence heroes should be able to turn bladmail on and keep it on for a draining mana cost and that is probably how the item should have worked all along.
You know Kyfoid, I don't know how you do it, but you know a lot about what we don't know, and I know that. I know you twist things around to confuse people, but you and I both know that that takes a lot of effort.
We could at least make another defensive item that costs you mana over time, that blademail idea is ****ing broken especially if the enemy oint have mana burners.
Arcane Garb, +16 armor and +35% magic resist with 100 mana per second actually sound REALLY good. Platemail+ Cloak+ Point Booster+Recipe (450). Costs you 3600, item for squishy casters who had tons of mana but little survivability.
My god this is actually a really amazing item I feel omg i actually had a brilliant idea. Icefrog please make this item happening.
