I've played DotA for half a year now. I haven't played the original DotA so I do not know how many heroes they have left to add. Is it just Arc Warden and Pit Lord left? And when those are added, whenever that may be, what do you think is next? Do you think that they will add new heroes, new items, new game modes, new maps, or something else? And do you think that DotA 2 is just a remastered DotA and that the newer additions will come in DotA 3? What are you guy's opinions on the future of DotA?
P.S. I don't know much about balances but do you think that Earth Spirit is ready to be implemented into Captain's Mode? Or is he still too OP that he will force a ban every time much like Troll does right now?
There's no Dota 3. Valve is porting Dota 2 over to Source 2. Arc Warden and Pit Lord, yes. They will probably still add new heroes, as they tend to do.
The Source engine is built to be modular, ever improving and with Dota 2 being ported to the Source 2 engine I'm positive there won't be a Dota 3. Valve will probably do the samething when Source 2 becomes obsolete, port over to Source 4(Kappa).
Have you played Warcraft 3? Remember all those custom mod maps? People are making those gamemodes this very moment and even now there are a ton of mods available. Go to the Steam Workshop for Dota 2 and look for custom games, you'll see a ton of it. Reddit has a modding community to discuss code/etc. You however have to opt in for beta then download Dota 2 that is using the Source 2 engine so that's the only drawback for many people (aside from the many bugs).
I'm excited for the future of Dota 2, especially when mods come out. I'll most likely spend a good amount of time playing Element TD in Dota 2.
True, but the potential for devastation is different - ES's skill cap is matched by his amazing potential to wreck havock on the enemy, if you're good enough. You can be godly with Wraith King, but you'll never get a solo rampage at lvl 8 - with ES you can.
On future changes: I think DotA 2 will continuously be updated with balancing changes and improvements for a long time, but the bigger changes and additions will probably subside. I imagine there will be less regular and smaller updates, and by 10 years it'll no longer be regularly updated. By then there will probably be a different MOBA or competitive game getting the attention from Valve. It'll still be played and enjoyed by a shrinking crowd though, just like DotA 1 is today.
OR! They realize what an insane success DotA 2 has been and releases a sequel - DotA, Clash of Heroes or something. Or maybe an MMORPG, who knows. They will surely milk the DotA series for all it's worth. Or not.
You play as a young member of the Knights of the Fold, until you find out about a conspiracy in which they are working with the Omniscient one's followers to destroy villages in the name of their gods. You leave the order and go to enlist the help of some of the heroes to defend villages, and you go on a few defense arcs, but then you meet the Templar ***sassin, who says she knows something about the attacks. The Purist Thunderwrath has abandoned the cause of the Omniscient one because of Morale quandaries with the slaughters.
Eventually most of the Radiant are on your side, until the situation escalates so that most of the Dire heroes have started attacking as well, so you and your new allies have to travel around the world to put an end to the combined threat once and for all.
Sorry for off topic!

Sooooo... the plot of Rising Tides cross Outside the Cycle?
Kappa.
There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can count, and those who can't.
