This is my very first guide if you find anything amiss please do comment, and all critics are welcome too.
Like many, Juggernaut is one of my favorite heroes. Juggernaut is a hard carry that can severely punish any careless enemies that wander outside their safe zone. But all that aside, Juggernaut inherited one of the most awesome move from my favorite videogame move and this build is made for exactly that reason, a tribute to Omnislash.
HEADS UP!
Before we start, I'm gonna be honest here, in my opinion this is NOT the strongest build out there. In most cases a conventional Juggernaut build is more versatile and easier to fit in during team clashes. A Refresher Orb Juggernaut is a double-edged blade, if executed poorly it could be he downfall for your team.
BUT WAIT!!!
Why bother then you ask? Because its FUN! Double Omnislash is not just deadly, but also extremely satisfying when you can pull it off flawlessly.
Aside from the usual Juggernaut's pros and cons, below are aimed at the Refresher Juggernaut build.
Pros:
- Maximize the advantages of Omnislash.
- 70 secs Omnislash at early-mid game.
- Bigger mana pool than conventional Juggernaut build.
- FUN!
Cons:
- High error margin.
- Niche conditions for optimum effects.
- Amplify disadvantages of Omnislash.
- More teammates dependable, almost impossible without a caring support.
- Weaker auto attacks damage unless farmed late game.
*That's an amateurish translation of the original Japanese names for Omnislash, I didn't totally made that up lol.
Original skill descriptions:
Juggernaut leaps towards the target enemy unit with a damaging attack, and then slashes other nearby enemy units, dealing between 175-250 damage per slash. The fewer units available to attack, the more damage those units will take; if a unit is alone, it will take all of the damage. Juggernaut becomes invulnerable while Omnislashing and mini-stuns the first target.
Range: 450
Jump Radius: 425
Number Of Attacks: 3 / 6 / 9 (6/9/12* with Aghanim's Scepter)
Damage Per Attack: 175-250
Mana Cost: 200 / 275 / 350
Cooldown Time(Secs): 130 / 120 / 110 (70* with Aghanim's Scepter)
Dota 2 wiki notes with some added details:
For in-depth explanation of each of Juggy's skill, please refer to Nubtrain's The Unstoppable Juggernaut Guide. It has one of the most complete list of tips along everything you need to know about Juggy's skills. As I mention in this guide I will focus on how to bring out the full effects of Omnislash.
LEVEL 1~10
When the first wave of creeps clashes, quickly run to the Secret Shop and purchase a Slippers of Agility to complete your Poor Man's Shield. At this stage there's really nothing much you can do, just focus on last-hit farming gold & exp the best as you can, try get on the lane which allows you to pull creeps neutral camp so you can farm near your tower. Mana is precious atm, you really don't want to wander off too and ended up wasting mana to Blade Fury out of trouble. Instead, save your Blade Fury for ganking or Healing Ward when necessary. After Phase Boots, aim for Point Booster or Staff of Wizardry(This be likely out of desperation, get Ogre Club next you will need the health) asap so you can use Blade Fury and Healing Ward more frequently, the health boost from Point Booster will allow to survive most early aggressive ganks with Blade Fury. And given the chance, you will have enough mana to use Blade Fury and Omnislash back to back and bag some kills. You can consider getting Robe of the Magi if you're unable to farm much gold or gank before level 6~7, which allows you to have enough mana for the Blade Fury/Omnislash combo.
Skills: Common for all Juggy, Blade Fury to be maxed first, followed by Blade Dance. Slip in a level of Healing Ward whenever you can, just one level is enough to keep you alive at this stage so long as you don't do something reckless.
LEVEL 11~20
Now is the time for you to shine! At Lv 11 you should already have obtained Aghanim's Scepter or at least near completion, it is absolutely crucial to get it before the 20 minutes mark. Once you have Aghanim's Scepter you should be actively participate in ganks, with your Lv3/4 Omnislash (9/12 slashes with Aghanim's upgrades) can easily turn any ganks to your favor. Always carry a Town Portal Scroll, with just 70sec cooldown your Omnislash will be ready in every gank from this point onward. If the enemy has invisibility skill or Shadow Blade, you MUST also carry a Dust of Appearance, lose the Poor Man's Shield if you need space.
Skill: After maxing Blade Dance, put 1 more level in Healing Ward then start dumping points in your Stats. You will need 9 points in stats at Lv22 in order to have just to barely enough mana for Refresher Orb and double Omnislash, total of 375+350+350=1075 mana. Lv2 Healing Ward is enough for patching up wounds after team wars as well as keeping you alive farming and can already negate most damage from towers. However, if you have given up on getting Refresher Orb, max it immediately. You must have Mjolnir before even thinking of getting Refresher Orb, it is what will make your Omnislash hurts!
LEVEL 22~25
You should have your core items by now, and start building for situational/luxury items. Clash will be likely to happens more frequently here onwards so you might have to considered saving up Omnislash for clash instead of farming single target, unless really necessary. You will have around 1080 mana with Aghanim's Scepter and Refresher Orb, just barely enough to pull a 2x Omnislash so you have to be extra conscious in avoiding mana leak spells like Mana Leak, EMP, etc. If due to some unfortunate event that you have to use Omnislash with less than 1075 mana, then don't use your Refresher Orb until you're sure that you've got enough mana for Omnislash and you absolutely need something dead.
"Its dangerous out there take this with you! You have obtained Refresher Orb!!!"
Its okay when:
How to increase Omnislash damage output?
This 135gold item is where most of your kills will come from after you have got your Aghanim's Scepter. It doesn't just allow you to help defend towers and counter ganks, it can also provide a quick escape after a successful/failed gank. Always keep one in your pocket you're not gonna regret it.
or
Don't go roaming fighting invisible unit without carrying out of these. Dust of Appearance works for most occasions during early game. Gem of True Sight is for late game when enemy began to combo invisibility with BKB, which could remove the effects of Dust of Appearance. And of course carrying a gem means you have to be extra careful and less YOLO.

Rating: 5/5
IMHO this is the best item for Juggernaut, or at least for this build, it has everything you need. At lv25, with just bonuses from Aghanim's Scepter, Mjollnir and Stats upgrade, you will have close to 300 attack speed.
Pros:
- Attack Speed boost for your auto attacks during Omnislash.
- 90/150 magic damage procs.
- Procs can be activated during Blade Fury.
Cons:
- Unreliable procs, have persnally experienced between 1 to 6 procs in a single lv3 Omnislash.
Rating: 4/5
The magic immunity can prevents stun or other cc that could hamper your timing for beefed Omnislash.
Pros:
- Active magic immunity.
- Cooldown can be reset with Refresher Orb.
- Doesn't need mana to activate.
Cons:
- Decreased duration of magic immunity with every use.
- Cannot be discarded.
Rating: 3/5
A good add-on with nice stats for Juggernaut, but became immediately irrelevant when enemy has Black King Bar or Manta Style.
Pros:
- Counter solo pusher with escape skills like Slark, Antimage, Mirana, etc.
- Active +30% amplifed damages (as magic damage).
- The attack speed and damage bonus improves auto-attack during Omnislash.
- Can be reactivated with Refresher Orb
- Bonus Intelligent increases mana pool for this mana hungry build.
Cons:
- Does not disable Inventory.
- Active effects nullified when target activates Black King Bar or Manta Style.
- Weaker DPS output compare to other DPS items.
Rating: 3.5/5
This is another item with nice stats for Juggernaut, Purge is important to remove buffs that can negate damage from Omnislash. It has limited charge so use it wisely.
Pros:
- Active:Purge removes buff on your target that may hinder Omnislash, such as Guardian Angel, Decrepify, Ethereal Blade, etc.
- Active also slows target that tries to run away from your Omnislash.
Cons:
- Limited active charges.
- Weaker DPS output compare to other DPS items.
Rating: 4.5/5
Never underestimate the damage from auto attacks during Omnislash, during late game when you have got your core item the total damage dealt is actually more than Omnislash itself. True-Strike will prevent damage lost due to evasion from Heroes such as Phantom Assassin, Brewmaster or Items such as Butterfly and Heaven's Halbert.
Pros:
- Gives 100% hit chance. It is the only viable counter item for fighting a fat Phantom Assassin with BKB.
- Chance to Mini-bash.
- Slight attack speed boost for your Omnislash.
- Good damage boost.
Cons:
- Gold constrains.
Rating: 2.5/5
A popular DPS item with decent damage boost and evil on-hit effects. Doesn't get a higher score for this build due to the simple fact that it doesn't gives any attack speed boost. Furthermore being a popular DPS item you would expect your other carry/semi-carry is carrying one.
Pros:
- Armor reduction buff increase both auto attack and Omnislash damage on target.
- Good damage boost.
- More affordable than most DPS item.
Cons:
- No attack speed boost, making it less useful for this build unless you already have some decent attack speed(250+).
Rating: 2.5/5
Normally I won't recommend this on my build, at least not early game. But when most of your enemy has Dagger of Escape, its worth trading off some of the benefits from other potential item to prevent one or more heroes from escaping when you launch your Omnislash. Again this item is VERY situational, if you're looking for pure damage or attack speed boost, choose something else.
Pros:
- Burning Aura deals 50 damage/sec.
- Disable Dagger of Escape.
- Good damage boost.
- More affordable than most DPS item.
Cons:
- Gold constrains.
Aside from the usual Blinkers and Invisible heroes. Here's a few others that you should be careful with your Omnislash.
This guy is a pain in the butt for all carries. When ganking Doom its best that you activate your Omnislash as soon as possible, as you will likely be the target for his Doom, which goes through magic immunity so Blade Fury won't help not even BKB.
&
When trying to gank Templar Assassin or Treant Protector or someone supported by Treabt Proctector, it is ideal to partner with another right clicker, preferably a range hero to weaken the Refraction or Living Armor for your Omnislash.
If Abaddon is the primary target of the gank, prevent using Omnislash before Borrowed Time or he will be running away with fully health. Wither him down with Blade Fury instead, wait until Borrowed Time duration is over.
& Outworld Devourer & any Heroes with
Phase Shift and Astral Imprisonment will disjoint Omnislash, so don't use Omnislash on them unless the are other reachable enemy heroes nearby. Manta Style will put the user in similar states Phase Shift and Astral Imprisonment for splits of a second when activated, although rarely in Dota but appeared to happen more frequently in Dota 2, don't be surprised if it disjoint Omnislash.
&
&
[BUG]
As of 05/05/2014, her Leap in Dota 2 will disjoint Omnilash.
Similar to Blinkers, when ganking these type of heroes try not use Omnislash on clash, instead wait for them in area which you think they might escape to and only use your ultimate after they have blink or jump.
I hope someone will find this guide useful even if they do not agree with the build. I will continue to update the guide whenever I can find something useful to add in. I will update the guide periodically whenever I out other suitable item add-ons on Refresher Juggy(like Manta Style & Battle Fury), as well as any interesting findings related to this guide.
Good or bad please rate and comment! If you've got something you would wanna add or find amiss in the guide, please feel free to write something. Peace out cheers!
