Hero Build

DotA2 Hero: Jakiro

Jakiro - Fun and Easy Offlaner Build

Hi-Breed
January 16, 2014

1. Introduction

This is a Mid/Offlaner Jakiro Build.

Jakiro is a great pusfarmer/disabler and can easily solo mid or solo lane with this build.

Both you and your two-headed beast will enjoy this!

2. Pros / Cons and When to Pick

Pros:

    - Intelligence based hero with good Strength gain (2.3)
    - All AoE spells
    - Low cooldown spells
    - An AoE (skilled) stun (in-line)
    - A zero mana AoE spell that can even be autocast
    - Good ultimate (AoE, low cooldown, can be AGH-boosted)
    - None of his spells are blocked by Linken's Sphere
Cons:

- 400 (medium) atack range
- Low starting Agility (10) and Agility gain (1.2)
- High cast duration (0.65 + 0.3) therefore he's kind of a skilled caster
- Additional 0.5 second delay for Ice Path

When to pick:
    - Your team needs a Support/Initiator/Ganker/Pusker/Disabler/Roamer/Offlaner/Mid
    - Your team mates are squishy (the team lacks a strength/durable hero)
    - Some of your mates' abilities synergize with yours (they have AoE slows, stuns, disables)
    - (Advanced) against Linken's Sphere wielders
When not to pick:

- The enemy team has a lot of silence spells
- The enemy team has a lot of magic resistance/spell immunity
- Your team needs a carry

5. Skill Build

Stats

The spell priority is Macropyre over Dual Breath over Ice Path over Liquid Fire, although after 4-2-0-1 skill build we'll take one point in Liquid Fire then go back to the remaining Macropyre over Ice Path over Liquid Fire.

Dual Breath is maxed first because it is the spell that inflicts the most damage: 90/180/270/360 and is unit targetable.

The second important spell is Ice Path, that will stun in place enemies over a looong straight distance for 1/1.4/1.8/2.2 seconds.
These are the main reasons for maxing this spell second:
- no damage
- point target
- additional 0.5 second delay over the 0.65 base one
- this guide is based on an offlaner build, you need damage to farm, not dry stuns

At level 8, one point will be devoted to Liquid Fire, as you might be called on other lanes to support and it is a free spell giving AS reduction and (rather low) damage over time to enemies AND enemy buildings!
There is a reason why you don't get this earlier, and two levels in Ice Path are chosen: you are the best candidate for being ganked as you're already 1 vs. 2 on your offlane lane (see what I did there? ^^)!

6. Item build

The key to the FEOB Jakiro is to have early HP and mana regen items to assure he makes few to no trips at all to the fountain.

But he already bought courier/wards and will ward continuously throughout the game.

That translates in having cheap regen items like a 350 gold Ring of Regen and a 325 gold Sage's Mask.

The good thing is that a Ring of Regen scales ENORMOUSLY for Jakiro in a pair of Tranquil Boots and a Sage's Mask can be upgraded at almost no cost to a Ring of Basilius.

These two babies address his other main weakness of low Agility and Agility gain by giving additional +7 Armor (4 from TB and 3 from RoB) for a steal price of 1475. That +7 Armor would translate to +49 AGI gain which Jakiro will never ever ever achieve by STAS level increase alone. Ever! 10+1.2*24=10+28.8=38.8 AGI at level 25 from STATS alone for +5.54 Armor increase.

The pre-midgame will be marked by the only ever core item on Jakiro: Eul's Scepter of Divinity, that is such a great item on Jakiro!

This item is so so so so so great on him that it will even have his own chapter!

You'll want to build this starting with Sage's Mask followed by a Void Stone for extra mana regen increase.

Now some advanced players that might have been skeptic reading both 'Jakiro' and 'Offlaner' in the title see where I was going.

But to stretch this even more, the next core-like item for him will be a TA-DAAA! Mask of Madness.

WHY?!? Mainly for its ability to give +30% MS increase for 12 seconds, enough to get from one lane to another in times of need or to act as ANOTHER (aside Eul) escape mechanism. It also gives a good +100 AS that (you guessed it) makes for 100 AGI that he would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever have had, which is good for finishing off a (disabled) hero when hard times call for it.

Before the teamfights start to emerge, another great addition would be a Mekansm both for its +5 (again!) Armor and for extra 5-5-5 stats, the active ability and much, much more.

Read on as all items will be discussed below.

STARTING ITEMS

Cost: 150 gold

Buying a courier is your duty as a 'support', so buy one if nobody else did.

Cost: 150 gold

Although it is accustomed that you buy either wards or courier, you can easily buy both, as your early build is not gold-dependent.
Early game, ward BOTH the rune AND the jungle, to avoid mid ganks.
Try to have the map warded at all times.

Cost: 175 gold

Buy one or two of these if somebody else bought a courier/wards.
They will build in your Tranquil Boots and Ring of Basilius.

Cost: 53 gold

Fill the empty slots with Iron Branches. They're both cheap and good. You can ditch them for regen items like a Healing Salve and/or Tangoes. I don't, as I'll get my Tranquil Boots as soon as possible.

EARLY ITEMS
Cost: 975 gold

How to use this:
Dual Breath the enemy creep wave then sit back and relax while your gold increases and your HP regen.

Cost: 500 gold

How to use this:
Just do nothing. It will passively increase your mana regeneration by 65%, not to mention other great bonuses.

Cost: 135 gold

Supports should be highly mobile in order to help anywhere when needed.

CORE ITEMS
Cost: 2700 gold

How to use this:
1. For passively +150% mana regen.
2. For pinning down (up, actually ^^) an enemy before Ice Path + Dual Breath-ing him. Add a pinch of Macropyre =).
3. On yourself for avoiding disables.
4. On yourself, paired with shift-clicked Blink Dagger to exit in style.
5. For its passive 40 MS increase.

Cost: 1900 gold

How to use this:
1. Activate to quickly finish off a creep wave AND regen HP in the process while you're low on both HP and mana.
2. Activate to quickly finish a Dual Breath + Ice Path-ed enemy.
3. Activated gives 506-522 MS when paired with previous items, good for literally flying around the map.

Cost: 2306 gold

How to use this:
1. Buy it when teamfights start to occur. Pipe of Insight is also good (but Mek is better!).
2. 5-5-5 STATS increase.
3. Its active replenishes 250 HP and gives +2 bonus Armor in an area.
4. Passive HP regeneration and Armor to the bearer.

LATEGAME ITEMS
Cost: 4200 gold

How to use this:
It passively upgrades your Macropyre, gives 10-10-10 STATS increase and additional HP and mana (+280 overall mana).

Cost: 5675 gold

How to use this:
1. Disabling enemies.
2. passive STATS (10-10-35), therefore increased mana pool (+455 mana).
3. Passive +150% mana regen.
4. Deadly combo: Hex + Macropyre + Dual Breath + Ice Path.

Cost: 5500 gold

How to use this:
Passively gives 1060 HP. And 2% HP regen if you're not taking damage. If you're confident enough you don't need the passive regen (which is very, very good), go for Eye of Skadi instead.

SITUATIONAL
Cost: 2450 gold

How to use this:
1. Free unlimited Town Portal Scrolls.
2. Extra passive MS.
3. Replaces two slots ( Tranquil Boots + Town Portal Scrolls) with one, so you can equip an additional item now.

Cost: 2150 gold

How to use this:
1. To initiate (using shift pays off greatly).
2. In combination with Eul's Scepter of Divinity, to flee while under heavy fire. Use SHIFT in the process.

Cost: 5250 gold

How to use this:
Passively adds extra pushing power and it's very good in teamfights, preferably equipped by the carry. Every team MUST have an AC each game. You're not a carry, but you can take it if you go for a pushing build.

Cost: 2200 gold

How to use this:
1. Activate it for returning damage to the enemy.
2. Can be combo-ed with BKB to avoid being disabled therefore casting your spells for dealing additional damage.
3. Passive Armor increase.
4. Passive INT and DMG increase.

Cost: 3975 gold

How to use this:
1. Activate for magic immunity.
2. Combo-ed with HoT and Blade Mail to obliterate enemy DPS-ers.

Cost: 5675 gold

How to use this:
1. Passively adds enemy 35% MS and 35% AS reduction with each attack.
2. Great for overall STATS.

EXTRA-SITUATIONAL
Cost: 2050 gold

How to use this:
1. Passively adds Armor, lifesteal, HP regen, mana regen and bonus damage to nearby creeps and heroes in pushing and teamfights.
2. It's great because it builds off your Ring of Basilius and stacks with other allied melee lifesteal. You won't get any lifesteal from it, though.

Cost: 3850 gold

How to use this:
1. Another active disable.
2. Passive +20 STR (=380 HP) and +25 damage.
3. Passively grants 25% evasion.

Cost: 5175 gold

How to use this:
1. Passive spell block on yourself.
2. Active use for putting the spell block buff on a friendly hero.
3. Passive 15-15-15 extra STATS.
4. Passive 150% increase in mana regeneration.
5. HP regeneration and bonus damage.
