Also don't concentrate too much on 'role', concentrate more on specific heroes, e.g there are some heroes i just absolutely cannot play because of things like attack animation, turn speed /move speed etc. Personally I can only play a handful of supports, not because of the role but because all roles have such big variety of heros that fulfill them.

In your op you say you lost six games as support but really that doesn't tell us anything. More importantly do you think you contributed to the team in those games. Theres just no way to judge by wins because you can play the game of your life and be a godlike pro but lose because of teammates/ bad hero matchups / lanes etc..

Thanks for responding. As stated in your lasted paragraph, I think when I played support bane, I was doing pretty good, but our carry wasn't quite up to par with farm. I'm gonna try play Naga Siren next(as support) and see how I do. You're right. I probably just got to play more heroes.

I suggest playing a Ganker. That is my favorite hero to play and I play all my heroes as gankers. I also make sure to pick up a dagon lvl 5. This is a must for most heroes to dish out burst damage.

No, don't teach wrong things to new players, please. I actually find the Dagon useless on too, it gives too less for its price.

Depends, if you have a team you usually stick to 1-2 roles. If you're just pubbing... learn all roles!

Thanks for the responses once again! I recently learned how to use Naga Siren effectively as a support and love using her! When I use her, I find myself transitioning into a semi-carry about halfway into the game(30 min), which is something I like. I've been wondering if there are any other heroes that can do similar things, such as starting off as a support and then becoming semi-carry?

Try learning Support, Mid and Solo Offlane, not because you need to (which you will eventually), but because it's fun to try new Heroes and broaden your Pool. In particular, try to learn Heroes that are quite versatile, e.g.

- She can be played as anything from a Hard Carry to a Roaming Support, ANY lane can work for her if you know what you're doing (though I hate doing anything but Roaming Support with her) 8)

- while mainly a Hard Carry, he can rush a as a Solo Mid, or even do well as a Situational Support, plus he'll give you a few laughs with Unstable Concotion fails.

Windrunner - Can't really be played as a Hard Carry, but makes an excellent Offlaner, Mid or Support as you need.

There's probably more, but those 3 would be a good place for anyone to start once they have the basics of each Role down.

I find support in all its forms quite rewarding.

Roaming/ganking, warding/de-warding and building items to shut down their hard hitters. It's a lot harder than people often give it credit for. I'm still learning so much about this role, let alone everything else in this game.

hmm i wouldnt recommend it yet but maybe after you get more experience of playing dota 2 and map awareness and such maybe you should try solo offlane. Since its one of the hardest roles in the game you should practice practice and practice if you wanna be good at it >_>

I recommend considered by many to be a carry but he's more of a soft support, a utility hero. Great with a mek, keeping people alive setting up kills and generally setting up the win, good at taking towers too. would be another hero in this category, excellent mek carrier. Also try in a similar role, perhaps not with a mek, but in the role of setting up kills, using the track gold to the teams advantage. It will be obvious to some that I'm naming good offlaners. I think you can still occupy that offlane build even if you're not actually laning in a solo offlane. As you've found with Naga Siren you can easily transition into a carry if need be. Final bit of advice is to watch pro games and see the builds and how these heroes are used.

If you do enjoy playing a carry, i suggest playing a middle > offlane > soft support > hard support in that order, so you're able to slowly transition from always being a carry to something that requires less and less farm. I don't know how you are playing support but from the information you have given me i can assume a few scenarios.
A) you doing something wrong if you're losing all games as support
B) just bad luck

As a support, try to roam a bit more and have constant vision on the map. Maybe that will help you to win your first support game. Private message me if you'd like detailed information or a lesson on playing support.
