The past three matches I've had have been against 2 randoms and a stack of 3, every time. One match, we had a three stack on our team, but they were doing incredibly bad, with only myself and my support even communicating at all and not feeding. The other matches were just outright farmfests for the three stack on the enemy team, except against me, because I wasn't blatantly feeding them like my teammates. We had an Axe go 0/11 in a match that lasted less than 20 minutes.

So, the way matchmaking works here is it's okay to match a group of five randoms against a premade? I feel like I can't even play a match in the normal queue without ending up against a group of stupid "L33TCL4NT4GHERE.3xtr3m3n00bgri3f3r" players that are apparently so sad they can't make it in the big boy matchmaking queue that they have to come pubstomp.

Also, I can't understand the mentality that some people have that apparently makes them want to feed. You can't counter a fed enemy team, because your teammates will be so bad that they will outright perpetuate it themselves by trying to 1v5 constantly instead of going to a quite lane to farm and turtling.

The "number of parties" on both sides should be evenly balanced most of the time (e.g. a party of 4 + 1 random, against party of 2 + party of 3). If you don't want this, there's an option in matchmaking settings where you can be matched only against other solo players.

Please note, this offers no protection against bad players, just against premades :)

Volvo removed that in the patch where they added ranked.

I've noticed a really drastic change in my matches lately, like I'm playing against a new player pool. Nearly every match I get into has a smurf on one side or the other absolutely rolling face. Like, ridiculously rolling face, 30+ kills a match.

I've played with some people in parties and matches are generally good and I've been having a lot more wins just over the past day since I posted this, but it's frustrating when I get placed against smurfs that end up fed and invincible.

The matchmaking seems to be really random and spotty, without any real pattern, because up until my past few matches I was getting thrown in with really bad teammates against stacks of enemies, and now I'm getting placed with people who generally seem better overall, but there's always a smurf on one team or the other.

I have also noticed something odd with matches lately. I was sitting at a steady 51% or so win rate. Only taking in account matches since the update I have a 75% win rate. A ridiculous change of who I'm facing. Looking at DOTABUFF after the match and reviewing who all has profiles that took part I am finding almost every player has more games then I do often by a long shot and on both sides, yet often the matches are horribly one sided. I have also found that there is a lot more trash talk. Idk why the matches changed after the update but they seem to have.

Or alternatively, join a 5 stack, then you can enjoy facing off against bad pre-mades, like a 5-stack with an Enigma, Pudge and Kunkka who can't land their Skill Shots to save their life (literally and metaphorically), vs. me on Rubick and my friends 8{3

The bad pre-mades are fun this way <}3

This is probably due to Casual players returning for the update. They'll have more games than you, but that doesn't mean they have a higher MMR than you, and since they won't have played in a while, they will inevitably play worse than you.

This happens with every event/new Hero release/International/etc.

Talking about "understanding the mentality that some people have that apparently makes them want to feed" actually makes you look like a whiner; not that it isn't true, but insulting players is what the worst part of the Dota 2 community is known for. I kinda agree with you, but solo queueing usually matches you up with people that have different levels of experience. For example, if one has 100 hours, he could end up with people with 600 hours versus a team with an average of 500 hours of playtime; that guy will eventually end up getting shouted on for the lack of map awareness and "intentional feeding". You might've been (metaphorically) one of the guys with 600 hours, and I understand you, but I usually try to ceck as many Steam profiles as possible so that I can understand who I'm playing with. Expecting too much from a low-skilled player is what makes him look like a noob most of the time.

As for the group of people you get matched with/against, Sando explained it all. Though I'm pretty sure the solo queue option was removed for some reason (and I used to use it from time to time). Since then I've never played another solo queue game.

So true. I once played an all random match with two friends and got matched with two players that knew each other versus a five-man stack; I played my best Morphling game ever (though I'm not that good with the Hero) and we won without much effort.

Didn't think of that, thanks for the info! :D
