Skywrath Mage was also right off the heels of back to back nerfs from the 6.83 days, remember. The big one was the increased time Mystic Flare took to deal all of it's damage. Not to mention that Skkywrath makes Leshrac and Gyrocopter look like beefed up Panzer tanks compared to his tissue-paper wings XD.

Thx for the help all. Crystal Maiden is one of my favorite heroes (and my 2nd best after Lion) but I feel like I can't do anything alone or set up things as nicely as with Lion.
Shadow Shaman sounds like a really good option. Around my mmr teams fail to react to a push (especially a split-push) in a good way.
And please don't change Skywrath Mages responses. I just love him.
Consider the consequences!
or(as Wronchi reminded me): From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

Well Lion is just a cheap hero in my opinion. He has an infinite source of mana, a spammable hex and stun, his attack damage is ridiculous in lane (literally every creep is so easy to deny), and a huge nuke. You only need Tranqs and that about it.

Try Lich he is easy to use, has a mana sustain, and big nukes.

Excuse me?

That's why you pick Lion in the first place. Don't start a support rebellion on DOTAfire please.

Lel,
The supports strike back.
Blubbles why are you picking a 5th position support?
He shouldn't need anything.
You said Earthshaker was bad but couldn't he be good as most sub 3k players are bad at positioning?

If your team has your back, Earthshaker's awesome. Go for a lane such as ES + Shadow Fiend, block those mothapuckas on your side of the lane and let SF melt them away. Or just go ganking squad with Mirana, setting up her stuns.
