I can only play support.I played support all my life. How can i rise my mmr effectifly when im 2,8k. Its full of unskilled carry's and mid's. What can i do.
I definitely think you can raise MMR by playing support only. Since most pub supports are absolute garbage, if you play even a decent support you will be a huge asset to youe team by being better than 95% of the other supports.
Only problem is, how do you play support if your carry and your mid are noobs?
So here's a few tips :
- Generally try to aim for supports that don't require follow-up from your team (or your team having a brain in general). For example, if you pick Vengeful Spirit or Ancient Apparition, it's not very good because these heroes are all about making plays as a team during the early game, and having teammates follow-up on what you're doing. So if your teammates are noobs you won't get anything out of these heroes because they can't coordinate. Instead go for "standalone" heroes : for example a Lich, or Witch Doctor, or Rubick...you can play these guys to their full potential without your team having a brain.
- Generally try to aim for late game/scaling supports. For two reasons : first most pubs go late since noobs cannot push, and second early game supports like Chen or Undying require you to make plays in coordination with your team and again you can't do that if they're bad players. Besides if you're a better player that the rest of your team you will probably get good farm so you need to use that gold. By that I don't mean pick the greediest supports possible every game, but I mean pick a standalone support who is good at any stage of the game and not just in the early game (e.g Disruptor, or Witch Doctor, or Omniknight and not Keeper of the Light or Crystal Maiden).
- If your support can semi-carry with farm, all the better. That's why e.g Necrophos is a really good pub support while that's never done in competitive.
So yeah that's my main advice, pick heroes that don't require you to have decent teammates to win. Generally simple is the best : pick Omniknight, farm your Refresher Orb, press R twice, win dota. Ez game ez life :)
Obviously learn to play other roles. What will you do if your team pick 4 supports or no lategame? How can you gank effectively without understanding the way other role players think?
If you are a competant support, playing a hero that can have a powerful impact throughout the game without requiring massive co-ordination then you will shift your team into an advantage. You might not be able to compensate for some games (But no matter how good you are, you get games where you'll lose irrespective because your team just gets outplayed). Even if it's just keeping effective vision up throughout the game.
Like, my highest win-rate is still on Shadow Shaman because he brings two disables, scales into the late game really well, and even helps with the pub issues of being inable to push thanks to Mass Serpent Wards.
But more arguably than that; be descisive and take charge. If you have a mic that's easier but even with typing; If you establish a willingness to lead, and you don't shown incompetance at either making calls or in game, then you'll find a lot of players will actually listen to you. And having someone making calls will massive improve your co-ordination, and thus your ability to out-play the opponent.
Pick supports that stop idiots from dying, omni and abaddon are the ones that come to mind.
Or pick supports that can have a high impact early (gank middle, kill safelane easily).
I personally played support to raise my MMR.
From 2800 to about 3400 i used treant protector, he works really well because he:
1. Saves people from dying
2. Can roam around early (treant with boots OOV is REALLY scary)
3. His ult is amazing even late game.
High impact supports that can give your team such a big advantage it would be a real accomplishment to lose. Or play a support that can win lategame alone:
Like above I think picking supports that scale nicely into late game helps immensely. I personally prefer Warlock due to a very nice aoe stun, fatal bonds is stupid op late game, and upheaval is OP. If you get refresher your golems still tear through carries late game. Omni knight is another great one with refresher as well, GG.
