However, I've heard a couple resource guides direct people to Lifestealer as the easiest to play. Probably because he has a passive percentage lifesteal system, with a natural BKB and "invisibility" to boot.
He's not OP, you just have to stop him from farming. If you allow him to free farm the jungle like every pub player does, of course he will be farmed and higher level.

Lifestealer is just pure overpowered. He doesn't need a midas or an armlet. Just a phase and drums and everyone is dead.
No, he's good only against bad players like you who don't know how to counter him.
If you can't be bothered to buy wards or to counter-pick, it doesn't mean the hero is overpowered, it means you failed.
Of course he's considered overpowered if everyone allows him to farm his jungle the whole game. He'll get the items he need and crush your team, that's why you must counter him so he won't do that.
Lifestealer can have a really hard time in the jungle if you gank him often and ward his jungle.

And what if he lanes buddy? You gonna tri-lane like tryhards?
Tri-laning isn't tryharding, it's a line-up, it doesn't matter how you win as long as you win.
If someone's line-up has a tri-lane, I don't see your problem at all, it's their choice what play style and line up they want to use.
A lot of team uses tri-lane to defend the carry and make sure he's farming, how is that tryharding? If you're not good enough to play against a tri-lane, it doesn't mean they are tryharding, it means you fail, not them.
You win and lose, it always happens, if you lose, it doesn't mean the team used overpowered heroes or they tryharded, it means they played better than you.
Also, if he's laning, he can still get ganked, you know? He will get less experience with supports around him, so he'll die easier. Denying creeps is also an option.
De-ward the enemy team then go and gank him.
