Hi All,

As I'm sure most of you know, there has been a major update on the original dota1. Changes which WILL be implemented (once Dota1 is balanced and stable) into Dota2.

http://www.playdota.com/changelogs/6.75

We may find more changes in Dota1, before it joins us in Dota 2, but clearly some of the changes have been made for dota2 client - with some heroes getting heavily buffed for the faster pace of dota 2 compared to dota 1.

Let's have a look at some of the major changes we may find in the dota2 client, and it's major impact on the current meta. Your thoughts?

Some of the interesting changes are the debuffs -
anti mage, now has a slightly longer cast time to blink, with compared to other blinkers was very quick! he also has a reduced MS

Dark Seer as expected was heavily debuffed - particularly vacuum - longer cd, smaller AOE, and unfortuantely the naga sleep, vacuum combo will not work anymore! :D

pandaren - his ulti will now be affected by blackhole - a natural addition, …

Really conflicted at the moment if I should return to DOTA 2 or continue playing LoL with my friends.

I think I probably like the learning curve and feel of DOTA 2 more, but I also feel League receives more attention competitively so it's hard for me to decide.

We'll find out soon I think.

The lane phase is my favorite part of each match. It's like a deadly dance, a terrifying tango filled with harassment, last-hits, sudden ganks, and death. Oh yes, death.

Despite laning being the most constant and predictable part of each match, I see a lot of mistakes that can probably be blamed on how experienced or focused players are in the skill area I'm playing right now. (which I'm guessing is with other fellow noobs) I'm guilty of screwing up in the laning phase too, and it's something I'm trying to correct. Below are a lot of the more common things I notice players doing, along with my own shortcomings.

TL;DR version: The Lane-phase is important. Focus on farming, smart play, and being a good lane partner so you can have a successful match.

Auto-Attacking Constantly

In just about every "New Player" guide that exists out there, there's a large portion explaining how you shouldn't auto-attack in the laning phase. It pushes the lane closer to the enemy tower making it harder t…

Hi all,

Played a hilarious game of dota2 last night, that is worth watching. This is pub stomping at it's finest.
We pushed the first racks and all 2nd towers in 14 minutes - then went on to win by 19:30. ROFL

It's a fun prob 25 min watch (as there was a couple of pauses) - worth watching if you would like to see a solid push combo.

We were 4 friends playing, the 5th is the QOP who we didn't know, if you are 5, an alternate to Qop would be Leshrac, who can still play mid, to get some levels the push with edict.

I play dark seer in this lineup, prob my best hero, and generally dictated what we were doing using skype (so not too much in game..)

well worth a watch, I did feel sorry for the enemy team :S

Dota is definitely a big deal, after the million dollar prize of the international. The game isn't even out of beta and its the largest played game on steam. Now from all this there are going to be many people making their way towards dota, and DotaFire is the top hit on google when you type in "dota 2 guides." I'm making this little post to see what people think about the website.

What is good about it?
What is bad about it?
Are we missing important features?
How can we make it better?
Etc Etc

I'll start. Mine are just mostly things I think that could be better.

1. What is up with the voting system? I don't understand it much at all. I think if we made it similar to reddit, where there were upvotes and downvotes, and the best guides came to the top and the worst went to the bottom, it would be much more user friendly.
2. I think we should be able to vote to get guides removed, as there is always some ridiculous troll guide out that is just taking up space.
3. I think we should have…

Why the Rage?

Rage is a part of this game that comes far too easily. The reason is it is much different from many games that you might play now. Sociocultural factors also play into it, but this aint no college lecture.

The first thing to understand the rage is the length of the game. It's like the video game equivalent to Monopoly. It's ******* long. It's long enough where you have to set aside time to play it. Sometimes you get Boardwalk and all the red properties and rock the board, and other times all you get is the purples and Reading ****ing Railroad, not to mention you land on income tax every time you pass GO. Once you invest a certain amount of time into something, the more you feel a need in a positive outcome. And when the positive outcome isn't happening, the rage begins. A game typically lasts 45 minutes, and when you are losing you feel as if it is a waste of time since you wont win anyways. I say bullocks, I make any and all games productive. Bad at a certain skill, when you are losi…

I have been playing DoTA 2 for about three weeks now and I am certifiably in love with the game. I ended up in the DoTA-sphere thanks to an old friend of mine introducing me to League of Legends over two years ago. Now that I've started playing DoTA 2 I don't intend to go back to LoL or any of the other MOBA's I spent way too much time playing (like my all Christmas break love affair with BloodLine Champions)

I don't have a die-hard attitude when it comes to gaming. I don't need to be the best. I just like to be among the best. When I played counter-strike back in the day, I played until I got to CAL-O and could consistently get banned from random public servers for 'hacking' which I discovered is what insecure people called 'playing with skill.' Another example, I play Go. Go is considered to be the most difficult game in the world, highly strategic, and strongly loved across Asia where their players play in multiple tournaments for prize money professionally. I never had any illusi…
