LOL vs DOTA2
look honestly i dont care which game is better. i play Dota not LOL though i used to play LOL i find Dota to be a better all round experience .... PERSONALLY.
that means my OPINION is that i like Dota better.
one persons opinion.
so why do we have this annoying and perpetual cycle of:
no lol is better no dota is better no lol is better.
excuse the language but
SHUT THE **** UP AND PLAY YOUR ******** GAMES!!!!
apologies for the crudeness but seriously people who cares? i know i dont .. or well
i didnt...
You see i wrote a nice little comment on a post about LOL vs Dota saying something along the same lines (just not as errr... straight forward.
then i got flamed by LOL fanboys as a "DOTA***" using their words not mine.
so in the interest of "*** you " i will teach my fellow dota companions how to royally destroy their arguments with ....
LOGIC *gasp*
THIS IS NOT A "WHOS BETTER" BLOG THIS IS A DECONSTRUCTION OF THE STUPID INANE ARGUMENTS USED BY LOL FANBOYS TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THEY ARE RIGHT... also like ...ill use big words and stuff
ARGUMENT LOGIC 101
1. THE BLACK AND WHITE FALLACY
where two alternative states are presented as the only possibilities, where in fact a multitude of possibilities exist
this one really gets my goat. (his name is Horatio and he is so CUTE)
yes dota is fun
yea lol is fun
NO THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY MOBAS
so by using these types of arguments you are inherently inserting weakness into your argument. by making your alternative the "only" alternative you are in fact leaving it open to attack from sources other then the one you are defending.
2.THE BANDWAGON
Appealing to popularity or the fact that many people do/follow a certain thing as a form of validation for said thing.
this one annoys me since it always comes up in the argument.
"LOL has more people playing it and more people watching it therefore its better"
"LOL is played by more people then DOTA therefore its better"
because something has the popular vote does not mean it is better... point and case:
Hitler, George Bush, Mussolini... twinkies.
these things had many more people following them and well ... yea.
3).TU QUOQUE
Avoiding having to engage criticism byturning it back on the accuser - answering criticism with criticism.
i.e.
"But LOL does not have a lot of the complex mechanics that dota does."
"the mechanics in dota are horrible they make it suck"
a). by using this type of argument it leaves them open to badgering, i.e. repeat the statement until they answer it and then you can rip their answer apart. and rinse repeat.
b). be forewarned i see dota fan boys doing the same thing so ... stop it. answer criticisms with answers that in one part respond to the critique and in the second part reveal the critique as a positive in opposite to a negative in LOL.
i.e
"the mechanics in dota are more complicated or as you like to call it "horrible" because since the creation of the original mod icefrog and a successive amount of dedicated people have refined and improved upon them to the point where now patches dont have to address the base mechanics of the game but only the mechanics of the heroes, RIOT does away with this by rehauling the base mechanics of the game every 12 months or adding new ones. I for one would rather a old car that runs for decades with out any major problems then a new one that needs to be in the shop every 12 months."
4).THE STRAWMAN
Misrepresenting someone's argument to make it easier to attack.
this one is so rife within the argument i feel pain.
seriously how do people not see this for what it is.
MANIPULATION
for example.
Ted: "Dota has a complex set of rules that allow greater flexibility within the games structure and Valve's F2P model seems to currently be setting the benchmark for all F2P games. i predict that in years to come DOTA will just continue to evolve and the player base will grow only get more dedicated.
Fred: "So basically ted your saying that Valve is the only company that is doing any good in the MOBA community? and that DOTA is the only game worth playing because of its "Rules"? and that its players are more dedicated then any other games players? that a tad bit one sided isnt it ted? also you Predict? you Predict? are you a prophet now ted? LOL and RIOT are doing more good for the Community as a "WHOLE" rather then their own game unlike Valve."
by misrepresenting what Ted said Fred was better able to de construct his argument and respond to the points made within it. unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this online as he has the ability to write that and post it before you can see it. but in a face to face argument you can interject constantly by correcting them with the correct phrasing or wording this forces to accept exactly what you said. once you do this most LOL fan boys will resort to the last and final way to win an argument.
5). AD HOMINEM
Attacking your opponents character or personal traits instead of engaging with their arguments
Sadly most people resort to this to "Win" an argument.
guys dont do this. it might seem like they have won by being able to call you names or attack your integrity but honestly it makes them seem like a child and also if they start to do this ... just leave maybe with a comment like
" if the only way you can defend your argument that "LOL is better" is to attack a person with a differing opinion, then to actually defend the game, then maybe the game isnt worth defending?"
these simple tricks can confuse some people but now you know what they are called and how to defend against them you can continue your flame war with which ever LOL fan boy you meet!!!
i hope this helps guys anyway ...
"They say about the world's BEST game. But, what if I decide its bad? What if they decide its bad? Who said its the best and what rights do they have of saying such things?"
- learn how to argue with anyone about anything if you actually read it hahaha
"your a genius" comment as sincere and be happy ahha
before when I didnt play DotA yet I said it sux like hell and now im playing it
and I have learned my lesson im pretty sure all these LoL fanboys didnt like DotA just
to keep their pride up even tough they tried it and thinks its nice.
In my opinion LoL isalso pretty good just complicated for me so I dont like it much
but before I also said LoL sux but I tried it and now I know.
Its all about preference idiots.
And yes just as long as more people play it ,its not better
I have a steam friend who plays both LoL and DotA and he doesnt seem to care.
He said that LoL is alot easier than DotA but he doesnt care.
I wish everyone can be like this.. full of idiots.
Also if you say DotA or LoL sux your probably not thinking
you dont like it, but it doesnt suck.
Im pretty sure some scrub will say that im DotA***
so what look at your life.
DotA and LoL but has its own pros and cons
which makes it better and has its own preference.
Also in Strawman it doesnt make sense like wtf Ted was that?
it doesnt make sense at all you just added words to change the original statement I dont get these people lik really,
those are the people that try to sound smart and right but just ends up humiliating their selves.
Sadly the LoL fan boys will go to his side and of course the person who said it will lose the argument.
ME: How long did you play it for?
LEVEL 5! IT SUX SO BAD
And from that I instantly conclude that the game is too hard so they stopped playing it because it was too hard.
We can do this easier:
LoL is ****--->"Yes, you're right"=WIN
|
|
|->"No, you're wrong"-->"But why do you smell like ****?"=WIN
Ez, LoL fanboys can't stand this super-duper tactic.
im usually not a rage type but Horatio was got and i needed to vent haha
plus never get mad ..get even! lol
How about adding some counter-arguments to usual LoL players' arguments which one can use directly to destroy their puny defenses rather than defending from demagogic LoL fanboys? That all demagogy thing is 3hard5me m8(
though this is a good idea "counter arguments" are not correct since a counter argument is to respond to a point/attack or question in such a way as to effectively give validation their point/attack or question.
most politicians you see and some "Motivational" speakers use "the answered question" response, this is where the point/attack or question isn't Actually answered it is in fact re phrased or used as a way to enhance your own point/attack or question while at the same time seeming to answer the point/attack or question. you will know this is about to happen when they respond to the point/attack or question with...
"in answer to your question ill first like to...."
"before i respond to your point, ive been meaning to..."
"i realise your believe that and in truth id like to respond but..."
the best way to "counter" an argument presented by someone is to use what debaters/public speakers and politicians call:
"the crumbling foundation"
i know i know it sounds all middle eastern kung fu move flying bristleback crouching roshan but it is fact a extremely effective way to "counter" a point or statement made by another.
it revolves around three aspects.
1). find the weakest foundation of the statement.
FRED: DOTA has heroes that dont scale into the late game which is gay.
the weakest foundation of this statement is that out of the whole hero *AHEM SORRY* champion roster in LOL each and everyone scales into the late game. ... WRONG a sizeable chunk do not. though this response in itself is weak part two of the response strengthens it.
so we have so far:
Look fred in answer to your statement id first like to say that in my extensive time spent playing DOTA i find that each hero scales into late game in their own unique way similar in effect to how LOL champions sometimes don't scale into late game well if fact a lot of LOL champions dont scale into late game.
2). Create the response in such a way as to force the burden of proof for said statement/point upon the sayer.
how does the fred know that some heroes dont scale?
why would he think that?
does he have a reason for thinking this?
this part of the response transfers the burden of proof of the statement back upon fred. it should be worded or phrased in such a way as to make it a PASSIVE transfer, an aggressive transfer of burden can be attacked in of itself so make sure it is a PASSIVE transfer like such
im sure you as a LOL player have played a lot of DOTA heroes to make that statement so i would like to respond to...
and AGGRESSIVE transfer would be
and how do you know that fred? have you played them all? have you even played dota
thus we have
Look fred in response to your statement id first like to say that in my extensive time spent playing DOTA i find that each hero scales into late game in their own unique way similar in effect to how LOL champions sometimes don't scale into late game well if fact a lot of LOL champions dont scale into late game at all and im sure you as a LOL player would have played a lot of DOTA heroes to make that statement.
thus we come to the third part.
3). end your response with a hard straight statement/question/point aimed at the director of the statement.
the final part of any "Crumbling foundation" response is to point the finger so to speak. end the response with a sentence that aims the figurative finger at the foundation. this is called "Ending in strength" you will see most speakers/politicians use this tactic . i.e. "and that is why we need to take action against the weak and inadequate policies of this government NOW !!! " we could also include a AGGRESSIVE transfer of burden in the endpoint.
thus we get :
in fact looking at both rosters LOL doesnt only just have champions that don't scale into late game they have champions that are basically the same as another champion just with a different skins and names so i could even say that LOL has double the champions that dont scale into late game then dota. But since you play so much dota you should already know that ? or if you dont then i question if you have played dota at all!
so we finally have .
Look fred in response to your statement id first like to say that in my extensive time spent playing DOTA i find that each hero scales into late game in their own unique way similar in effect to how LOL champions sometimes don't scale into late game well if fact a lot of LOL champions dont scale into late game at all and im sure you as a LOL player would have played a lot of DOTA heroes to make that statement. in fact looking at both rosters LOL doesnt only just have champions that don't scale into late game they have champions that are basically the same as another champion just with a different skins and names so i could even say that LOL has double the champions that dont scale into late game then dota. Everything said by me is true and shall be obeyed. I want hot chocolate with marshmallows.
There is for sure something more in my mind that I cannot remember.
