R.I.P. Terrorblade.
Alright, I get it, he's an extremely strong pick and probably wasn't ready for the professional scene just yet. Upon release he was legitimately broken, could jungle from level 1, could get guaranteed first blood in lane, scaled like a meth addicted Lycan, he needed a nerf.
But reducing his strength gain by a full half point was rough, fair, but rough. The reflection change however was idiotic, the spell is almost useless as the cast-range and cast-time means you'll use it maybe four times in a match. It needed a rework as a spell, not a nerf. If you'll take a look at the two most famous pub Terrorblade players Matrice and Zenoth, you'll note they don't even begin skilling it until after level 16 usually. When stats are consistently better than a spell, it needs a rework.
Sunder getting buffed was an odd choice, the cast-time never seemed like an issue compared to the cast range which made it significantly worse than equivalent carry ultimates (Haunt, Chrono, Stone-Gaze) but in this patch you plan to remove the mini-stun? Congratulations, now you have no way to stop a TP on a hero that is illusion based, AKA does not buy any form of stun.
What's that? You want to cripple Meta's movespeed by 25? Slow down there Lone Druid, it already turns your 1.5 BAT into 1.6 BAT for only an 80 damage increase. Shadowfiend gets a 72 damage increase with no penalties. Make it a 1.7 BAT if you must but taking away 25 MS means in a teamfight you're utterly useless. That extra 75 cast range on Sunder won't save you if you move like molasses.
And for the ultimate 'dead hero' part, illusions now take 125% extra damage on a hero with THE THIRD LOWEST STRENGTH GROWTH IN DOTA AND THIRD LOWEST BASE STRENGTH. Congratulations, Terrorblade can now no longer jungle, he can't effectively split-push, he can't effectively teamfight. I don't care if his damage output remains the same if his illusions can be wiped by one aoe spell and then he can't actually get any damage in due to being kited, then cannot escape due to being molasses, meanwhile possessing a melee range slow! I sure want to put levels into Reflection now that I move 25ms slower!
But that's okay, because Naga got a 0.15 cast point increase on her get-out-of-jail-free ultimate so they are basically even? Wait, why did Phantom Lancer get remade? Because he was a worse version of Naga and Terrorblade? Welp GG Terror, because you are now definitively worse than Naga Siren.
Please Icefrog, I want to think this patch is a joke, Terrorblade is my second favourite hero, if you don't think he is right for the professional scene then just revert the nerfs and remove him from Captains Mode. Lycan was first pick/ban for over half a year and he's only had his ult touched.
Gr8 b8, m8. I rel8, str8 appreci8, and congratul8. I r8 this b8 an 8/8. Plz no h8, I'm str8 ir8. Cr8 more, can't w8. We should convers8, I won't ber8, my number is 8888888, ask for N8. No calls l8 or out of st8. If on a d8, ask K8 to loc8. Even with a full pl8, I always have time to communic8 so don't hesit8.
Poor Death Prophet. Exorcism cooldown get's another nerf.
Razor getting a bit of a nerf as well (static link has been very abuseable), especially with Eye of the Storm. They are really trying to hinder push strats!
Hasn't 6.82c come out yet? There was another update today.
If it has, then Jungleblade still works. Even if it hasn't, Terrorblade is still viable. With the movespeed nerfs he'll have 429 movespeed with Travels + Manta, which he should have as early as possible. That isn't slow!
6.80 Reflection was stupidly imba. 60% 5s slow at level 1 just wasn't fair. It is now a balanced skill.
Terrorblade is still a monster carry, farms comparably to Anti-Mage, carries harder, split-pushes beyond Lycan's dreams, still good early kill potential, and now you can ACTUALLY ult someone while in demon form. The ministun removal sucks, yeah, and I don't see why they needed it, but the range increase is pretty good.
The illusions did need a nerf. I've sic'ed a single illusion on a support with only Manta and Skadi and gotten a kill. Now they have a chance :)
Obviously I'm pissed they're nerfing two of my pet heroes (Spectre counts as one too, and didn't need a nerf), but in Terrorblade's case they're fully understandable and aren't too gamebreaking.
There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can count, and those who can't.
There is a reason Terrorblade have been reworked a thousand times, he is just not a fun hero. Remove him from the game for all i care, but nerfs are much welcomed
I mean, the nerf really doesn't change Terrorblade that much? He was always better laning till he gets like a Yasha and then farming the entire map really quickly. I mean, he's still probably the fastest farming Hero in the game, has stupid amounts of damage to the extent he can zone out solo laners with Metamorphisis, he still snowballs off of minor advantages.
And like, he literally can play Naga Siren at her own game by building Raidence into the rest of his items. And he will probably beat Naga at that because he has so much damage.
Him being squishy in the early game is true, but he is still great at all points in the game unlike Naga Siren, and his illusions are terrifying with farm, which is what he gets so very very easily, becaue
He's still an incredible strong Hero, he's just less likely to be overwhelmingly OP as it stands. I mean, he needed nearfing long before he was put into Captain's Mode as it is.
A lot of the other nerfs seem like they are focused on how ESL One went down, in that it was an extremely centralized meta around basically the 6.82 power houses with a couple of changes.
Spectre hit was entirely expected by me, since I think it's the most popular Hard Carry as things stand to the extent it's a very common second phase ban in pro matches.
