He turns into the best nuker in the game at end game. Where he can deal up to 500 damage per hit without any damage boosts.

Glaives of wisdom are a damage boost.

Definitely a carry-type: He lacks any sort of cc/heal/saving ability to support
His kit focuses around harass and damage so play around his strengths not his weaknesses

... I think he's more of a utility/semi-carry with his ult and his attrition.

This ^

He's got some good Right-Click Damage with enough Intelligence stolen, but half of it is easily blocked by BKB. He's better off played as a Utility Hero so he's useful more than once every 2 minutes.

Safelane or mid. Offlane would only make sense against a dual melee lane or very weak trilane.
Mid is also not favorable against some mids like Invoker who has enough hp regen or Pudge who can avoid most dmg by using rot.

Silencer is a midlaning semicarry who scales well into the lategame with Glaives of Wisdom. Thus, he can also be considered a carry similar to Outweed Dankvourer. Although OD deals more damage lategame, this is balanced out by Silencer having a much better lane, which says something. He can be played safelane if you have another mid, but Silencer pretty much instawins 1v1 mid situations, especially Viper and Pudge.
There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can count, and those who can't.

He isn't the best support, but if played as a support, he can still easily scale into lategame.
