Pretty much echoing what they said. Just stay in All Pick until you at least have the basics down with everyone. Even if you know how to play "most" heroes decently, if you get into a draft where you don't know a single hero well enough to play them in a real match, you probably shouldn't be there.
It's not anything to be ashamed of. Dota 2 has over 100 heroes, and each one has its own playstyle that you have to figure out through a lot of practice. I don't even pick a hero in pubs until I've played them several times in bot games first.

Would rather shoot myself in the face than learn to play Pudge.

Why? sure pudge is pudge, but learning to hit blink hooks is a great skill to have on any hero, because it means you understand how people move, where they will be at a given point in time. Learning to land hooks on heros that have been out of your sight for like 3+ seconds can basicly teach you map hacks. Sure you might not want to play pudge, but his hero design can help improve your dota.

Agreed. Although Mirana is also good for the 'map hacks' as you were speaking of.

True, but that's an entirely different Skillshot with a different Range and Move Speed, and neither Meat Hook or Sacred Arrow will teach you how to aim Ice Blast. You've gotta learn 'em all! DO-TE-MON!!! >8{D
